Spyro: AHT 2 ‐ Features (Overview)
In addition to the base game being randomized in many ways, AHT AP also provides a handful of other features that are unique to itself. This page of the wiki is dedicated to giving an overview of these features. Most of the details here are modified versions of the descriptions in the YAML file used to generate random seeds, but in a more formatted manner due to being on a markdown wiki page. As with the rest of this wiki, this information is not necessarily exhaustive - download the latest version of the .apworld file from the "Releases" page to view the most recent, up-to-date information on features.
Note: 2 features (shop randomization and open world mode) have their own standalone pages on the wiki due to being the most complex features.
A feature common to many randomizers that makes it so that if you die, any friends in the same seed who have DeathLink enabled will also die. The same goes in reverse :)
The randomizer has a logging system which you can customize to get additional information back while generating seeds. It also supports the ability to automatically fix the vast majority of issues that can arise while generating, or you can opt-out of that and have any error result in generation error'ing out.
Every AP randomizer needs to have a goal or set of goals to determine when you are finished. AHT supports the following as goals (customizable how many you choose):
- Defeating any or all of the 4 bosses (Gnasty Gnorc, Ineptune, Red, and Mecha-Red)
- Flaming all 22 fireworks
- Breaking all 40 Dark Gems, collecting all 80 Dragon Eggs, and collecting all 100 Light Gems
- Opening all 52 locked chests
- Buying all shop items, if you opt in to randomizing the shop
You can choose to modify the costs of accessing boss lairs, light gem doors, and the 3 gadgets. For each, you can choose to leave the costs vanilla, shuffle them with each other, or have them generate in a random range specified by you. You can also force a specific boss lair to have the highest cost of the 4, which can be combined with selecting that boss as your goal to ensure that boss is the last one you do.
You have the choice between 2 patches that can be applied to the pause menu. In one ("teleport to hub"), you can press and hold Y to teleport to the hub level of the realm you are currently in, as a convenience feature. The other ("open shop") allows you to access the game's shop without needing to be at a shop pad.
You can choose to make any, or all, of the bosses take 3x damage so that you only have to hit them once per round. This speeds up the fights significantly.
The game can be patched to allow you to skip cutscenes with the Y button. You can also have it replace the long waits for elevators in Cloudy Domain, Sunken Ruins, and Magma Falls with a fade-to-black screen load.
One final quality of life feature is the ability to teleport to any remote shop pad you've unlocked in any realm, from any realm. In other words, if enabled, you won't need to go to a realm teleporter to switch which realm you're in just to teleport to shop pads within that realm.
