First public release of Liquid — a glass-aesthetic theme for Obsidian, inspired by macOS Tahoe Liquid Glass.
What you get
- Real glass. 48 surfaces use
backdrop-filterwith calibrated blur and saturate. Your wallpaper bleeds through every panel, modal, and toast. - One-variable retheme.
--bb-accent-h: 146is the source of truth. Change it to any hue from 0 to 360 and every accent regenerates. - Honest light mode. Not inverted dark — separately tuned tints, edges, shadows, and a syntax palette balanced for cream-tinted backgrounds.
- Crisp motion. Exponential ease-out at 120–200ms. No bounce, no spring.
- AA contrast on every accent. Buttons, tags, active rows, focus rings — all pass in both modes.
- System-respectful. Honors
prefers-reduced-motionandprefers-reduced-transparency. Stays clear of macOS traffic lights. - Fully tokenized. Every color, blur, radius, and motion curve is a CSS variable.
Install
- Download
theme.cssandmanifest.jsonbelow - Drop them into
<your-vault>/.obsidian/themes/Liquid/ - Obsidian → Settings → Appearance → Themes → select Liquid
- Enable Translucent window (Settings → Appearance) for full glass effect
Compatibility
- Obsidian ≥ 1.4.0
- Best on Apple Silicon and dedicated GPUs (48 backdrop-filter surfaces)
- Mobile inherits colors but layout is desktop-tuned
Notes
- No external network requests — uses local-or-system fonts (Inter / JetBrains Mono first if installed, system fallbacks otherwise)
- Reduced-transparency falls back to solid panels; reduced-motion disables transitions
