LineageOS 23.2 for the Daylight DC-1 (2026-08-23, ASB 2026-08-01)
Warning
Early release — flash with caution. This build has so far been validated on a small number of DC-1 units. Flashing replaces your system partition and requires a full data wipe; back up the stock system and vbmeta images before you start so you can return to stock, and don't flash a device you can't afford to have out of commission while issues are shaken out. Test reports — good and bad — are very welcome on the issue tracker.
The first release of the DC-1 LineageOS GSI: LineageOS 23.2 (Android 16), unrooted user build, SELinux enforcing, Android Security Bulletin 2026-08-01.
Built from LineageOS lineage-23.2 + TrebleDroid android-16.0 + MisterZtr LineageOS_gsi (v2026.05.24-lineage23.2), with the DC-1 delta from this repo baked in.
2026-08-24 update: the amber/warmth frontlight control is now fully working — both LED strings (white + amber) are driven directly with a true cool↔warm crossfade, verified on hardware end-to-end (including full-off at both extremes and correct behavior across sleep/wake). The earlier amber caution note is resolved; assets below are the corrected build. Full write-up of how the dual-string frontlight works: docs/amber.md.
Variants
| Asset | Contents |
|---|---|
lineage-23.2-20260824-dc1-vanilla.img.xz |
No Google apps or services |
lineage-23.2-20260824-dc1-gapps.img.xz |
MindTheGapps: Play Store + Play services preinstalled |
Both carry the identical DC-1 delta. Decompress with xz -d (or unxz) before flashing. vbmeta-empty.img is included for the verified-boot step. Verify downloads against sha256sums.txt.
What's baked in for the DC-1
- Amber frontlight, no root — full cool↔warm crossfade: the Amber app's slider drives both frontlight strings directly (white down as amber rises, true full-off at both ends, correct across sleep/wake and brightness changes); savable presets, Quick Settings tile; the frontlight works from early first boot
- 120Hz with real hardware composition (no forced GPU fallback)
- Bezel compensation done right: 8px waterfall display insets at native 1200x1600 (stock's forced-size approach scaled and blurred without actually clearing the bezel)
- Monochrome-appropriate settings: no Colors / Night Light / white balance menus, no auto-brightness toggle (no ALS)
- Feature masks for hardware that doesn't exist: camera, light sensor, telephony (the stock vendor wrongly declares all three) — this also makes the setup wizard skip its SIM screen
- Quieter, more debuggable system: MediaTek wifi-driver log flood muted; camera apps removed; media-scanner bootanimation bug fixed
Flashing
See docs/flash.md. Highlights: flash vbmeta-empty.img to both slots with --disable-verity --disable-verification, flash system from fastbootd, but run fastboot -w from bootloader fastboot (it fails in fastbootd on this device). A full step-by-step guide is coming to sethforprivacy.com.
Known notes
- Play Protect reports "uncertified" on the gapps variant (true of any custom build); nearly everything works, strict Play-Integrity apps may refuse
- Unrooted
userbuild — no su, no Magisk; root your own copy if you need it - Kernel and vendor partitions are untouched (that's what keeps the panel and amber LED working)
- After a system update/reflash, tap the Amber app icon once — Android puts updated persistent apps in the stopped state, which skips one boot's auto-start
