On Windows
- Open the downloaded
GameDex_1.2.1_x64-setup.exefile (usually in your Downloads folder). - If a blue box saying "Windows protected your PC" appears, click More info, then Run anyway. This appears because the installer is not yet signed with a paid certificate; the file is safe.
- Click through the installer. FFmpeg is included, nothing else to install.
On Mac
- Double-click the downloaded
GameDex-macOS-unsigned.zipto unzip it. You get an app called GameDex. - Drag GameDex into your Applications folder.
- Double-click GameDex. macOS will say "Apple could not verify GameDex is free of malware that may harm your Mac". This is expected because the app is not notarised yet. Click Done.
- Open System Settings and click Privacy & Security in the sidebar.
- Scroll down to the Security section until you see the note that GameDex was blocked.
- Click Open Anyway and confirm again that you trust it. Your Mac may ask for your password or Touch ID. Your Mac remembers this choice, so from now on GameDex opens normally.
- GameDex then walks you through two permissions, one at a time: first Accessibility, then Screen & System Audio Recording. Follow the buttons on screen. After the second one, quit GameDex and open it again.
