Changes

This patch release fixes non-ASCII prompts on Windows.

Fixed

  • UTF-8 stdin on all platforms: the engine read stdin in text mode. On Windows, text mode uses the locale code page (for example cp1252), not UTF-8. A prompt with non-ASCII text (accents, CJK, emoji) was garbled, or it failed to decode. When it failed, no nudges fired and nothing reported an error. The engine now reads the raw bytes and decodes them as UTF-8. Idea from #15, thanks @xobosox.

Added

  • test_utf8_stdin_under_non_utf8_locale: runs the engine with PYTHONIOENCODING=cp1252 and makes sure that non-ASCII prompts arrive unchanged. 117 tests pass.

Changed

  • Bumped plugin version to 0.6.3.
