What changed in 0.3.4

• Long drafts. A draft too long for one pass is now rewritten in sections, with progress shown. You can stop, close the app and pick up where it left off; finished sections are kept. Download the result as one text file. Thanks @meharrkapoorr (#5).
• Use your own model server. In … → External model service, point the app at an OpenAI-compatible server such as LM Studio or llama-server (http://localhost:1234/v1). The built-in engine then stays off. Create fact, the language check and long drafts still work, and the API key is stored only on your computer. (HF discussion #11)
• Put the app and the model on any drive. Choose the run folder and the models folder in … → Change storage location, and optionally move the model there. Uninstalling removes only Humanizer's own files from folders you picked. Thanks @DongyuAI (#9).
• Fixes. Stop now works while the draft is being read, and a stalled engine shows a message instead of hanging (thanks @meharrkapoorr, #7). The Copy button shows right away whether it worked (#6). hz finds a ready app even when another app instance isn't ready (#10). Phone-width layout fixes.

What changed in 0.3.3

• Edit the draft after a rewrite. The draft no longer turns into a read-only view once the rewrite is done. Change it, add more facts and press Rewrite again; no need to click Clear or Back to editing first. What the rewrite cut is still struck through in the draft until you edit it.
• See what is kept. Passages you marked with Create fact are highlighted in the draft and in the rewrite, and the footer shows how many were kept. Click a fact in the bar under the draft to jump to it.
• Easier to find. Whenever the draft has text, a one-line hint under it explains Create fact: select a name, number, quote or term and click Create fact, and it comes back word for word.

What's new in 0.3.2

• Import .docx and PDF. Click Import next to Paste, or drop a file on the draft. The text is read on your computer and loaded into the draft (formatting is dropped). Chinese PDFs printed from Chrome, Word paragraphs and tables, and hard-wrapped PDF lines come out as clean paragraphs. Long drafts show a short note: long documents may drift on facts, so check the result or ask an AI to fix the spots it got wrong.
• Create fact. Select a passage in the draft and click Create fact: the rewrite keeps it word for word. Behind the scenes the passage is swapped for a placeholder the model copies through, then put back. If the model changes or drops it, the app rewrites again automatically (up to 3 tries) and never shows a version with the passage changed. In our test on 32 English and Chinese drafts (64 rewrites, 130 marked passages, from names and dates to whole sentences), every marked passage came back word for word on the first try.
• Check for updates. … → Check for updates shows what changed and updates the app or a newer model file in one click; the app also checks once a day (you can turn that off). Your model, settings and history stay. This starts with 0.3.2, so updating from 0.3.1 or earlier is one last manual install.

• Changing sizes: open the ⋯ menu at the top right → Change model size, pick one and click Download (or Use if it is already downloaded). Your current model stays in the models folder; nothing is deleted. Updating from 0.2.0 keeps the size you already use.

• Under about 12 GB of memory the setup page says the 12B may not fit. You can still try.
• If you used Lite before: the setup page tells you it was retired and preselects Q4_K_M. Your old Lite file stays in the models folder; nothing is deleted.

Measured (own 312-draft eval set, 2026-10-02; model v2)

The app downloads the model by file name from Hugging Face, so a new install gets the current model (v2, updated 2026-10-02). Installed it before that? Quit the app, delete the .gguf file in models/ inside its data folder (macOS ~/Library/Application Support/Humanizer, Windows %LOCALAPPDATA%\Humanizer) and open it again; it downloads the new file. • Originality.ai, strictest setting (AI Allowance 0%), bf16 weights: 199 of 210 English rewrites judged human-written (95%). The most popular open-source humanizer skill, on the same 60 drafts: 0 of 60 (this release: 56 of 60).
• Fact fidelity (strict LLM judge, measured on the Q8_0 file): 376 of 420 English rewrites came back with no factual problem; where there was one, more than 9 in 10 fixes are a single word or phrase. Chinese is still catching up (149 of 204). Read numbers, dates and names before you send.
• Raw data: eval/. One measurement on one date; detectors change.
