Pocket Share v1.0 — Windows
Share files and text between your laptop and phone over the same Wi-Fi or hotspot. No cloud, no account, no installation.
Download pocket-share.exe below. Double-click it. That's the whole setup.
Getting started
Double-click pocket-share.exe.
Click the ▦ button in the header to show the QR code.
On your phone, open the camera and scan it. The page opens — no IP address to type.
Enter the PIN shown in the window when prompted.
Put both devices on the same Wi-Fi, or connect your phone to your laptop's hotspot.
Your PIN
The PIN is generated on first run and saved in a .env file next to the .exe. Look in that file for PIN=. Change it to anything you like before sharing.
Keep it to yourself. Anyone who has it can see and delete what you share.
What it does
Files, both ways. Send a photo from the phone and it lands in SharedFiles. Drop a file into SharedFiles on the laptop and it appears on the phone.
Text, both ways. Send a note from either device; it appears on the other.
Large files stream. A 4 GB video costs no more memory than a short note.
Live updates. The list refreshes itself; no manual refreshing.
Clear finished to tidy up, with a confirmation first.
Stop shuts it down completely. Nothing on the network can reach your laptop while it's stopped.
Notes
Both devices must be on the same network, connected to the same Wi-Fi, or the phone joined to the laptop's hotspot.
Your firewall may ask for permission on first run. Allow it on private networks only.
Nothing leaves your machine. There is no cloud service, no telemetry, and no outbound connection of any kind.
Shared files sit in SharedFiles beside the .exe — plus FromPhone, FromLaptop and Texts subfolders.
Antivirus sometimes flags unsigned executables. If yours does, add an exclusion or allow it to run.
Requirements
Windows 10 or 11. Nothing else — Python is not needed.
