A tool for some type of shit metal products that takes a lot of time designing in convectional way, This might also be more of a addon, not sure will post it here anyway...

For example something i use alot. This is a collection of tools that simplifies making sheet metal ducts, elbows, square to circle adapters,,.... there are many some are used more some never..... This is 25 y old software i use in xp vm.... On a picture it is example of making duck elbow from x number of segments with what ever size or angle you want. it is fast and easy to understand. Similar to hole tool..... in about 30s i can get a flat pattern of piece of that sheet metal duct..

I will add here a new idea. Similar to above tool. A tool to create Flanges per standards like DIN2573. OR custom flanges by adding
Thickness, type of holes, number of holes, dimensions,.... Similar to hole tool...

This indeed is a nice idea and also very useful. I'm not sure its in the scope of SheetMetal WB, though. For one thing the unfolder can not handle such geometry.

Interestingly this SW does not use any thickness nor k factor information for creating flat pattern. So you need to take in to account that you input central line diameter for example.
For example You want to make a pipe of 500mm in diameter with the thickness of steel 3mm. For flat pattern to come out correctly you need to input 497mm (center line diameter. An from my experience with this software it is surprisingly accurate up 5mm thickness...

usually air ducts are relatively large comparing to the thickness of the metal, so this is less critical.

So what is the conclusion? Is this viable as a long term project? You dont feel like you have time or knowledge to implement?

I'm marking it as a feature request. The workflow for duct creation is substantially different than the current sheetmetal system. So either it is embedded into sheetmetal or implemented as a separate WB its a lot of work. Perhaps someone will pick the glove.
