Fall detection systems are used in many healthcare applications. Many of the modern smartwatch brands are designed to detect people falling. They can be used for people with serious ailments, heart problems, and elderly people to make contact with emergency services when a fall is detected. Fall detection is also useful to detect when people are not able to contact emergency services due to injuries inflicted in various places including workplace and nature (hiking).

Motivation

The security of fall detection systems against adversaries has not been studied thoroughly. The importance of these systems in the quality of life and safety of many people justifies the extra effort to ensure their secure functionality. This work will explore loopholes in the security of training and classification algorithms used in fall detection systems. Detecting these loopholes can help develop tamper-resistant and secure fall detection systems in the future.
