GearForge 0.1.0

The first public release of GearForge, a parametric gear and drive designer for Windows.

Download gearforge.exe below and double-click it: it's one program for 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, with nothing to install. Windows may say it protected your PC because the program isn't signed; choose More info, then Run anyway.

What it makes

• Spur, helical and herringbone gears and compound stacks, with up to two mating gears, on parallel or crossed shafts
• Internal ring gears, racks, straight bevel gears, worms with throated wheels, and planetary sets
• GT2 and HTD timing pulleys, ISO 606 chain sprockets, and cycloidal drives
• Geneva drives and ratchets with their pawls

Checks

Contact ratio, backlash, root clearance and a rolling check for every meshing pair, plus the play and transmission error stepped through mesh, and a tooth strength guide.

Exports

STL, 3MF, OBJ, faceted and smooth STEP, a STEP assembly, DXF, SVG, OpenSCAD, A4 PDF drawings, a spec sheet, and scripts that rebuild gears parametrically in Inventor and SolidWorks. Smooth STEP files and the Inventor scripts were checked in Inventor 2026; the SolidWorks macro hasn't been run in SolidWorks yet.
