YouTube Caption Reader 1.0.0

First stable release of YouTube Caption Reader for NVDA.

Highlights

  • Reads visible YouTube captions from the browser accessibility tree.
  • Streams completed sentence or clause prefixes, reducing delay from long automatic captions.
  • Coalesces rapid caption updates before they enter NVDA's shared speech queue, keeping the newest pending caption without cancelling unrelated NVDA speech.
  • Resets caption state after a video seek.
  • Handles rolling captions without treating a shortened on-screen viewport as an old prefix and blocking later captions.

Validation

  • Tested with NVDA 2026.1.1, Microsoft Edge, and YouTube captions.
  • 22 automated tests passed.
  • Package archive integrity verified.
