DiAuto 0.3.11 — Hotspot startup recovery
DiAuto 0.3.11 — Hotspot startup recovery
DiAuto now recovers when you open it before enabling the car’s built-in hotspot,
without needing to remove the app from recent apps and reopen it.
- Waits for the actual hotspot interface instead of using wired or modem connection details during startup.
- Refreshes hotspot connection details after the phone reports a failed Wi-Fi join.
- Waits for a manually selected hotspot interface to become ready.
- Prevents cancelled connection-detail lookups from overwriting newer results.
The owner confirmed that the test build worked before approving this release.
The existing English, Simplified Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Spanish support is retained.
Installation
Install DiAuto-v0.3.11.apk on the car, over the previous public DiAuto release
to retain settings. The production package and signing key are unchanged. HUD Test
builds use a separate app package.
Download and installation guide
Validation
650 unit tests and core translation checks passed. Debug and optimized release
builds passed; the production package, version, non-debuggable status and signing
continuity were verified. The owner’s car test used the HUD test build; the
optimized production APK has not had a separate physical-car test.
This project supports BYD cars. Other head units and firmware are not verified.
The source archive and SHA-256 checksums are attached.
DiAuto 0.3.10 — Complete five-language localization
DiAuto 0.3.10
- Completed English, Simplified Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Spanish coverage, including home, connection setup, diagnostics and audio settings.
- Arabic right-to-left layout support and Simplified Chinese display/theme options.
- On Android 13+, Android Settings and the in-app language picker now stay synchronized; older Android keeps the saved language choice.
- Language selection survives settings export/import and resets correctly to System default.
- Automatic translation-coverage and format checks help prevent regressions.
Downloads and support
Install on the car, not the phone. Download and installation guide: https://shihabal3amri.github.io/DiAuto/
These projects focus on BYD cars. They may work on other brands, but other brands are unsupported and there are no plans to add support or fix brand-specific incompatibilities.
Install over the previous public release to retain settings; the signing certificate and production package ID are unchanged. HUD Test builds use separate package IDs.
Validation
Built locally from the tagged source. Production package, version, non-debuggable status, signing continuity and source/archive contents are verified before publication. No new physical-car validation was performed for these packaged releases.
646 unit tests and debug/release builds passed. Core translation coverage and formatting are checked in CI. Full-project lint is not claimed; existing unrelated compatibility warnings and the slow fragment-analysis check remain outside this release.
DiAuto 0.3.9 — Built-in hotspot setup and diagnostic export
DiAuto 0.3.9 — Built-in hotspot setup and diagnostic export
Android Auto for compatible BYD head units and Android phones.
- Adds a dedicated Connection setup page in Settings with clear hotspot and pairing instructions.
- Makes built-in hotspot the default native transport and removes the Local hotspot option from both setup menus.
- Recovers a masked hotspot BSSID from validated MAC-derived IPv6 addresses on the active AP interface, addressing the observed wireless handshake failure.
- Adds explicit keyboard dismissal and distinct settings icons.
- Adds Settings → Diagnostics with save-to-Downloads, destination selection and sharing. A bounded app-owned journal retains useful diagnostics when the system log buffer rolls over.
- Retains the standalone BYD navigation output and session-scoped wireless cleanup.
Built-in car hotspot setup
- Turn on the car’s hotspot and choose 5 GHz if available.
- Open Settings → Connection setup → Built-in car hotspot.
- Save the hotspot’s exact name and password.
- Enable phone Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, pair with the car, then tap Connect phone and accept the phone prompts.
The phone joins automatically; no manual Wi-Fi join or ADB is required for this setup. The Local hotspot option is removed and old selections migrate to built-in hotspot. Wi-Fi Direct and USB remain available.
Install the APK on the car. Update over the previous public release to preserve settings; the signing key is unchanged. HUD Test APKs use separate package names and are not replaced by these public APKs.
Validation and limits
641 unit tests passed. GitHub debug and optimized signed release builds passed, including release lint-vital checks. Production package, non-debuggable status and signing compatibility with the previous public release were verified. Full-project lint is not claimed.
The owner confirmed built-in hotspot Android Auto on DiLink 5.1/Android 13, keyboard dismissal and diagnostic export. The final option-removal test build was installed successfully. The newly packaged production APK has not received a separate on-car session test. Compatibility depends on the phone and car firmware; further reboot and driving tests remain necessary.
If connection fails, export a report from Settings → Diagnostics and include phone/car versions and reproduction steps. Reports filter credentials and common identifiers; review before sharing.
Thanks to all contributors and testers. Merged work: #3
DiAuto 0.3.3 — BYD HUD navigation and wireless recovery
DiAuto 0.3.3 — Standalone BYD HUD navigation
- Windshield HUD arrows, next-turn distance and street names on verified DiLink5.1 firmware, with no ADB, root, computer or helper required. Enable Settings → Navigation → BYD navigation.
- Current Wi-Fi Direct interface/BSSID recovery when the interface appears late. A bounded grace period prevents a plausible cached address from winning too early; Static BSSID remains supported.
- Best-effort Bluetooth auto-start notification fallback and better recovery diagnostics.
- Background navigation output, normal route-end/disconnect/off/stale cleanup, and recovery when an interrupted app opens again.
Compatibility
Live HUD guidance and street names were physically confirmed on DiLink5.1/Android13. See the exact firmware scope. Other firmware/map apps are not universally supported. Force-stop can leave the last instruction visible until the app reopens. Run one projection app at a time.
The app ID and production signing key are unchanged. Existing public DiAuto users can update in place and retain settings. Separately installed HUD test packages remain separate.
Validation and thanks
623 local unit tests passed, including delayed-interface and fallback-expiry regression cases. The signed, optimized release build passed. Physical HUD testing does not establish every wireless/notification edge case on every head unit.
Thanks to @STUkh for PR #2 and the wireless recovery/auto-start work. Third-party notices, including BYDMate maneuver-icon attribution, accompany the source and APK.
PR source commit: b872324747c783029020b58eafe40d3ae3cbbc9d. Merged source: 0e806734d40c3c27d55b99514ce5e605e665bd5f. GitHub PR checks passed, including unit tests, debug/release builds and release-vital lint. An additional local full-project lint scan was stopped after more than ten minutes in Kotlin analysis; it is not reported as passed.
Install the APK on the car’s Android head unit, not the phone. SHA256SUMS.txt covers the downloadable APK and source archive.
DiAuto 0.3.2 — Wireless setup without ADB
DiAuto 0.3.2 fixes wireless startup on supported DiLink firmware that hides the Wi-Fi Direct address from apps. DiAuto can now recover the address automatically, without ADB setup, root, or a phone helper app.
What changed
- Automatic BSSID recovery from the active Wi-Fi Direct interface, with validation to reject masked or unrelated addresses.
- Allow time for the interface address to become available during startup.
- Refresh connection credentials without tearing down the network while the phone is waiting for it.
Update and connect
Install DiAuto-v0.3.2.apk on the car over the existing public release. It uses the same signing key as 0.3.1 and preserves app data.
Leave Static BSSID on Auto, pair your Android phone through the car's Bluetooth settings, and choose Connect phone. Existing manually configured BSSID values remain supported.
This release keeps the existing Wi-Fi band selection and user-selected video resolution/frame rate. It does not include the experimental 5 GHz-only switch or automatic low-resolution test profiles. If a 2.4 GHz session repeatedly disconnects before video starts, lowering the video resolution/frame rate may help; it does not fix every Bluetooth or Wi-Fi join failure.
Compatibility
Automatic recovery has worked on the maintainer's DiLink 5.1 and on additional users' cars. One reported 5 GHz connection failure remains unresolved. Recovery depends on the firmware exposing a MAC-derived IPv6 address on the Wi-Fi Direct interface; universal compatibility is not claimed.
581 unit tests pass. Debug and optimized release builds, including release vital lint, pass. The release code was smoke-tested on DiLink 5.1: automatic address recovery, 5 GHz connection, and 1080p video.

DiAuto 0.3.1 — Android Auto for BYD
DiAuto 0.3.1 — Android Auto for BYD DiLink
First public release of DiAuto, an independent Open Headunit fork focused on BYD DiLink.
Download page and installation guide — English · العربية · Русский · Español · 简体中文
Install the APK on the car, then use your compatible Android phone's built-in Android
Auto support. No additional phone companion app, dongle, external hardware, root or
firmware modification is needed. An Android phone is required; this is not Apple CarPlay.
Included
- Native wireless Android Auto and wired USB support.
- Redesigned home, settings options, toggles, pickers and dialogs.
- Music-through-car-Bluetooth mode to avoid competing media audio focus.
- Matching non-DFS 5 GHz channel preference when the head unit is already connected to
Wi-Fi; automatic fallback on unsupported channels or failed creation. - Bounded SurfaceView frame pacing and full-screen 1080p touch alignment.
Compatibility and validation
Tested on BYD DiLink 5.1 running Android 13 with wireless and physical USB connections.
576 unit tests pass; optimized release assembly and release vital lint pass. The final
public signed APK was installed and smoke-tested on an Android emulator.
Wireless map-drag samples improved from 34–35 FPS to 47–58 FPS after channel alignment
in the tested setup. Performance varies; one later music-playback sample still had a
103 ms stall. The tested display reports approximately 58 Hz. Constant 60 FPS is not
promised. Other head units, firmware versions and long-term thermal behavior are not verified.
Install / update
Download DiAuto-v0.3.1.apk below and follow the installation guide.
Some DiLink firmware requires the manual Static BSSID step documented there.
This first public release uses a dedicated signing key. Private development previews
and upstream builds may have a different signature and cannot update in place. Export
your settings before uninstalling a conflicting build; uninstalling removes local data.
Future public releases will use this release key.
