Initial public release

Embed Vimeo videos with ordinary Markdown image syntax in Reading View and Live Preview. Move the cursor into an embed to edit its Markdown; move away to restore the player. Optional video titles and upload years are supported.

Installation

Download main.js, manifest.json, and styles.css, and place them in .obsidian/plugins/simple-vimeo/. Reload Obsidian and enable Simple Vimeo. Keep any existing data.json when updating.

simple-vimeo-0.1.6.zip includes the runtime files and illustrated guide. simple-vimeo-0.1.6-source.zip contains the buildable source and tests.

Compatibility and privacy

  • Minimum Obsidian version: 1.14.4; tested on Windows desktop.
  • Mobile, other host versions, fullscreen interaction, and restricted-video playback remain unverified.
  • Cursor-driven source editing uses a guarded private native-image adapter. Unsupported hosts fall back to Source mode; cross-version behavior is not guaranteed.
  • Embeds connect to Vimeo. Optional metadata requests send the original video URL, including a supplied unlisted privacy hash, to Vimeo's oEmbed API.
  • Not yet listed in the Community Plugins directory.

Verification

38 tests pass; official JavaScript-source lint reports zero errors and warnings. These checks do not constitute Community review approval. Development-only dependency audit advisories remain; development tools are not bundled into the plugin.
