@shreyanth-sureshkrishnaa shreyanth-sureshkrishnaa released this 16 Sep 09:27

A gorgeous new TUI, 600+ color palettes, and massive performance upgrades!

🛠️ What's Changed:

A Brand-New, Sleek TUI: With a fire preview page, a better settings page, and huge quality of life improvements when it comes to palette selection.

More Colors: We now have 622 color palettes to pick from!

Customizable Durations: You can now tweak animation_duration and flames_duration directly from your configuration, replacing older rigid constraints! This includes full integration with the interactive TUI editor. (Contributed by @Greensky-gs)

Config Path Resolution: A long-standing bug preventing settings and custom palettes from saving on Windows has been completely fixed! Pyroclear now properly looks for %USERPROFILE% to ensure seamless loading across PowerShell, CMD, and Git Bash. (Contributed by @Hugibeer)

Smart Help Footer: The --help command now dynamically prints your system's actual config path instead of a hardcoded text fallback. (Contributed by @Hugibeer)

NixOS Flakes Installation: Added native installation instructions for NixOS Flakes right into the main setup guide. (Contributed by @Xeravus)

Apple Silicon & Mac Support: Expanded the Nix Flake build output matrix to officially support Darwin (macOS) systems! (Contributed by @Gameslinger)

Version Sync: Fixed a mismatch error where the Nix package file falsely declared version 0.1.0 while the core library Cargo.toml was already flying ahead at 1.1.2. (Contributed by @faisaltariq-dev)

Deep-Dive Config Guide: Created a brand new formatting.md file that clearly breaks down and explains every single customizable variable so you can edit your setup directly with ease. (Contributed by @felixgamer27)

Cargo Prerequisites: Added clear commands detailing how to install Cargo to ensure a smoother onboarding experience for new users. (Contributed by @felixgamer27)

❤️ A massive shoutout to all of our incredible contributors for powering this update!

🔥 pyroclear v1.0.0

The initial release of pyroclear: a lightweight terminal clear replacement written in pure Rust that burns your screen down before wiping it!

Highlights

  • Zero Dependencies & Fast: Uses native Unix syscalls (ioctl/termios) and Win32 APIs for sub-millisecond, flicker-free rendering.
  • 300+ Palettes & Custom Themes: Features 300+ built-in palettes, custom --from/--to hex gradients, and transparent terminal background support.
  • Interactive TUIs: Built-in interactive modes for picking palettes (--pick), tuning physics/FPS (--settings), and building custom colors (--custom).
  • Full & Safe Clear: Clears both the visible screen and scrollback buffer (\x1b[3J), with signal-safe (Ctrl-C) terminal restoration.
  • Persistent Config: Automatically saves preferences to ~/.config/pyroclear/config.toml.

Quick Start

# Install
cargo install pyroclear

# Run
