Folder Camera 1.0.1
Folder Camera 1.0.1 enables R8 code optimization and resource shrinking, as requested during F-Droid review. The signed universal APK is approximately 2.8 MB, down from 13.1 MB in 1.0.0.
The application ID and developer signing certificate are retained, so existing photos, folder settings and receiver pairing remain available on upgrade. Room database implementation names and the persistent upload-worker name are preserved by their library-provided consumer rules.
Validation includes release builds/lint, thirteen host tests, native Android 16 instrumentation, and a black-box check of the actual optimized APK on the 16-KB emulator: storage selection, JPEG capture and settings/photo persistence across restart. The clean official F-Droid/JDK 21 source build, source scan, signature/production manifest/license assets, 16-KB ZIP/native alignment and byte-identical developer-signature reproduction pass. Native Android 17 emulator testing remains blocked by the previously documented system renderer/service failures.
The source is pinned to ba0ed7f. Checksums are attached. The earlier v1.0.0 tag and assets remain available. F-Droid admission is pending maintainer review; the merge request is being corrected to use the official App inclusion template. No Play Store listing has been published.
The free desktop receiver is distributed separately at receiver-v1.0.0.
Folder Camera Receiver 1.0.0
Folder Camera Receiver 1.0.0 brings the optional LAN receiver to a desktop app. Choose a photo folder, scan its five-minute pairing code from Folder Camera on Android, and receive photos over certificate-verified HTTPS. Existing receiver identities, paired phones and saved photos are preserved.
The interface includes recent arrivals, phone disconnection, pause/start, an optional tray mode and optional launch at login. Deno and certificate generation are bundled; no terminal setup or OpenSSL installation is needed.
Downloads:
- Windows x64 and native ARM64: per-user MSI installers, with the standard WebView2 runtime.
- macOS Intel and Apple Silicon: DMG applications.
- Linux x64 and ARM64: AppImage applications. The WebKitGTK 4.1/GTK 3 system libraries are required; the tested Linux baseline is Ubuntu 24.04.
Built with Deno Desktop 2.9.7; its upstream desktop API is experimental. Windows installers are unsigned and macOS apps have an ad-hoc signature, without Apple notarization. Publisher signing credentials are still needed for a trusted store-style install experience. The owner tested the receiver and approved this stable release. Automated GUI and installer acceptance also passes on all six targets.
Automated acceptance runs twenty receiver tests on every target, launches the rendered native GUI and requires a clean exit, then repeats startup from the actual AppImage/MSI/DMG. Windows additionally installs into Local AppData, confirms there is no per-machine install and uninstalls afterward. The per-user location avoids the upstream WebView2 cache failure in a read-only Program Files directory. See the accompanying checksums and source/CI manifest.
The Android app remains independently available from the v1.0.0 release. A changed PC IP can be verified and updated in Android Settings; automatic mDNS rediscovery remains deferred. No advertising, analytics, cloud photo service or router forwarding is required.
Source and license: GPL-3.0-or-later. Bundled dependency notices are available in Receiver settings → Open-source licenses and in the source tree.
Folder Camera 1.0.0 release candidate
Folder Camera 1.0.0 release candidate
Native Android folder camera with local-first JPEG capture, searchable nested Unicode paths, photo previews/share/export, zoom and continuous light, verified local-save recovery and optional secure LAN copies.
The Linux receiver automatically selects its private LAN address, stores preferences and displays its first pairing QR. It remains optional.
This is a public release candidate for F-Droid reproducible-build validation and store preparation. Google Play and official F-Droid publication are not live yet. The SARL Play account, final price and company support contacts remain owner setup items. Android 16 native acceptance passed; Android 17/16-KB emulator validation is being completed. Use generated/test photos while evaluating the candidate.
Production ID: io.github.sigmasd.foldercamera. This is separate from the earlier prototype org.foldercamera; recover private staging before removing the prototype. Public folder photos remain intact. The candidate APK uses the developer-controlled production signing certificate.
