Minutes 0.30.1 reconnects native call audio on macOS when the system unexpectedly stops a working capture stream. The meeting stays open while Minutes attempts recovery, and audio already captured is preserved.

What changed

  • Recover without restarting the meeting. For the system-stopped-stream error (-3821), Minutes reconnects microphone and Mac audio within the same recording and live transcript session. Retries are bounded so a persistent failure is reported rather than hidden. #1139
  • Preserve audio and the elapsed timeline. The same audio stems remain open across recovery, missing intervals are padded with silence, and the saved record includes interruption warnings. Recording parts are joined only after export succeeds; failed recovery or export retains captured material.
  • Stop cancels reconnection. Pressing Stop while audio is reconnecting saves the captured segment and prevents a late reconnect from restarting capture.

Who should care

People recording desktop or browser calls through native microphone and Mac audio capture on macOS.

CLI / MCP / desktop impact

  • Desktop: automatic recovery for the native macOS call capture path. Windows desktop remains experimental and unsigned.
  • CLI: no new public commands.
  • MCP and agent integrations: no new tools or configuration requirements. The recording's live transcript session stays open during recovery.

Breaking changes or migration notes

No configuration migration is required. Install the desktop update manually using the DMG or Homebrew.

Known issues

Recovery cannot restore speech that was not captured during an interruption. A 12-minute signed development-app test survived two controlled interruptions and a separate Stop-during-recovery test passed. These checks did not force or reproduce system-wide disk cleanup and do not guarantee the same recovery time on every Mac.

One current-speech relay read was briefly unavailable during otherwise healthy recording in that test. The next read returned the same session and finalized live text continued. That separate reader observation remains under investigation.

Install or update

  • macOS desktop: download the DMG below, or run brew update followed by brew upgrade --cask silverstein/tap/minutes.
  • Command line: cargo install minutes-cli --version 0.30.1.
  • MCP server: npx minutes-mcp@0.30.1 with the updated local Minutes engine.

Minutes remains free and open source. Meeting files stay local; content retrieved by a connected cloud assistant becomes context for that assistant under its settings.
