v2.1.18
This release makes day-to-day device management safer and more predictable, especially for eLxr 3.0 updates, netboot recovery, model deployment, and SDK networking.
Highlights
Safer eLxr 3.0 updates and recovery
- Know what will change before you update.
sima-cli update --inspectnow reports A/B boot state, rollback status, and persistent overlay customizations. - Recover cleanly from stale overlays. When package metadata in the persistent overlay no longer matches the system image, sima-cli can guide you through a clean-overlay update while preserving a metadata inventory for review after reboot.
- Avoid unsafe OTA attempts. Updates stop early when a device is rollback-latched and provide re-flash guidance instead of proceeding with an incompatible update path.
- More reliable reboot behavior.
--rebootnow waits until post-install inspection is complete before handing off the reboot, reducing false failures and interrupted verification. - Less cleanup. Successfully installed SWU downloads are removed automatically.
Faster, more reliable netboot workflows
- Use your own downloaded artifacts with
sima-cli bootimg --netboot --images <directory>. - Prepared netboot assets are cached and validated for reuse, shortening repeated bring-up and recovery cycles. Use
--delete-cachewhen you want the managed cache removed after the session. - Netboot shutdown now restores the saved U-Boot environment, preserves a recoverable host-side backup, and follows the device if its IP address changes during the workflow.
- Legacy U-Boot layouts automatically fall back to the supported manual netboot path.
Linux PCIe host updates from the CLI
Linux users can now select and install indexed daily PCIe host packages with sima-cli -i update. Downloads are checked against the catalog SHA-256 before the installer runs, and an exact build can be selected with -v.
Preview: A clearer Model Registry experience
The Model Registry remains a preview feature. This release improves the experience for users evaluating it:
- Interactive model selection now follows a simple branch → model → variant flow.
- Only coherent, promoted packages from the selected branch are offered, preventing accidental downloads of incomplete or inherited build artifacts.
- Model cards now surface available benchmark and accuracy results for each variant, including multi-component packages.
- Non-interactive workflows keep the existing JSON interface.
Better networking and Insight setup
sima-cli networkcan configure a custom static IPv4 address while preserving the default static profile, DNS settings, and a compatible gateway.- Network changes are blocked over SSH to prevent disconnecting the active session; use the DevKit serial console when changing addresses.
- SDK setup on macOS now detects Colima's TCP-only SSH port forwarder before Insight starts and offers a guided switch to the gRPC forwarder required for UDP media paths.
- New Insight WHIP and ICE port mappings enable browser webcam publishing from SDK deployments, and the network doctor checks the mappings.
Existing SDK users: port mappings are fixed when a container is created. Recreate your SDK container through
sima-cli sdk setupto enable the new Insight webcam ports.
Also included
- Model Compiler SDK installs now target version 2.1.3.1.
- CLI guides for SDK setup, system updates, and boot image/netboot workflows are now available in Japanese, Korean, Ukrainian, and Traditional Chinese.
- Numerous diagnostics and error messages now provide clearer recovery guidance.
