Current Temperature hasn't updated since the end of August 2024

Hello -

On my dashboards I track the temperature of the refrigerator and freezers. I'm noticing on that this value stopped updating towards the end of August 2024. Any thoughts on this? Attached are screenshots of the history.

Devices in question are:

• Café Beverage Center CCP06BP2PS1
• Café 27.8 Cu. Ft. Smart 4-Door French-Door Refrigerator CVE28DP2NS1

Unfortunately, GE decided to not expose the actual temperature anymore using the existing ERDs. They just released their API specs, so maybe there's something else in there that can be used, but haven't had time to look through.

There's a set of ERDs that might have this info (0x105c and 0x105d), but I'm having a hard time using the API to deliberately request an update on a single ERD. There's a function that asks for a complete update of all ERDs, but 105c and 105d aren't in the list that gets returned.

This is explains why my temperature reading perfectly matched my temperature setting over the last year... I didn't realize it wasn't getting updates until yesterday, from what I assume was related to the AWS outage where this device went offline and I spent removing and re-adding it only to find the temerature sensor is now unavailable.

Sigh...this was literally THE reason I chose this model over another is because I want a fridge to report its temperature. Looks like I'm going back to Z-Wave/Zigbee sensors until if/when a solution is found.

Anyone find anything directionally helpful on this?

The link I mentioned above is for a repo for an ESP32 device that a GE tiger team put together, it connects to GE appliances via the diagnostics port and is powered that way and is able to issue commands to appliances (even ones that don't have smart functionality, like my dishwasher for example). I wrote some code to pull temperatures which actually is more accurate than the exposed ERD GE gave through the web API since there are several thermometers inside the fridge and freezer that are averaged together somehow. Other projects got in the way though and I didn't end up importing this into HA but I probably will eventually. There's some basic code in the repo though that queries all available ERDs for some appliances depending on the version of the protocol and syncs them to HA which might be worth exploring.

In the meantime I picked up some RF accurite sensors powered by AA batteries and use SDR connected to HA in order to monitor temps. It's not ideal having to use something else when I know the temperature data is on the fridge, but it's cheap and works for now.
