First release of the simhook phone app: pair a phone with your account by QR code, code, or link, and it sends the messages your API asks for, forwards incoming SMS to your webhooks, and reports delivery.

Requires Android 8.0 or newer with a SIM. Works on phones with Google services; push wakes the phone within seconds of an API call.

Install: download simhook-0.1.0.apk, open it, allow installs from your browser or file manager if asked, then open simhook and scan the QR code from the dashboard at https://app.simhook.dev. The app updates itself from here on: it checks for new releases twice a day and offers them on its home screen.

Permissions: SMS (send and receive), phone state (to list SIMs), notifications (sending progress and alerts). Nothing is collected beyond what the gateway needs; there are no analytics or crash reporting SDKs in the app.

Install simhook-0.1.0.apk on the phone, or let an installed app update itself.
