The installer is not signed

Windows will say "Windows protected your PC" and hide the Run button behind
More info. That is SmartScreen reacting to an executable it has not seen
before, not a judgement about this one. Check the SHA-256 above if you would
rather verify than trust.

What it installs

  • Mz950 Studio - open, edit and save S900/S950 disk images (.hfe and .img)
  • Mz950 - a VST3 that plays those disks back in a DAW
  • Standalone - the same emulator without a host
  • A sound library - five disks of synthesised sounds, so it makes a noise
without your owning a single floppy
  • A tutorial, in the program group and under Help in the editor

Each is optional, and the installer asks whether it is for everyone or just you.

v0.6.0

Filter resonance up to self-oscillation, LFO shapes, and a Perform-tab LFO that
reaches the filter and goes further than the S950's. All of it is on the Perform
tab and none of it is written to the disk. At zero, it's the machine.

NEW

Res (MIDI CC 71): filter resonance, which the S950 never had. It's a peak at
the cutoff, rising to about +15 dB. Past about 92% the filter self-oscillates,
a clean sine at the cutoff that follows Filter, the filter envelope and
velocity. At 0% it's the S950's filter exactly.

LFO Shape (MIDI CC 113): Sine (the S950's), Saw, Square or S&H.

LFO Filter depth (MIDI CC 114): the LFO moves the cutoff too, by up to three
octaves either way. Square or S&H with some Res gives the classic stepped
filter.

CHANGED

The LFO knobs follow the S950's scale over its range, then carry on past it:

  • Pitch depth grows to a whole octave at +99.
  • Rate goes both ways, down to 0.1 Hz.
  • Delay goes both ways, and at -99 removes a programme's fade-in.

Pitch depth was labelled Depth, and it now sits beside Filter depth.

A saved session with LFO Pitch depth above +50 will now sound deeper.

FIXED

The LFO Rate knob did nothing to keygroups that share the programme's LFO
(desync off).
