Breaking

  • The folder background now lives in the icvp record, which is where Finder actually reads it 78e06f2
    • Removed the BKGD and pict record types (DSStore.RecordType.background and .backgroundPicture), plus DSStore.Record#backgroundType and DSStore#backgroundPictureAliasData(). Finder ignores both record types, which is why backgrounds never showed up.
    • DSStore.BackgroundType.picture carries the alias data now: .picture(aliasData:).
    • The alias has to be a Carbon Alias. Finder ignores bookmark data there, including data from URL.bookmarkData(options: .suitableForBookmarkFile, relativeTo:).
  • DSStore.BackgroundType.color channels are now Double in the 0...1 range instead of UInt16 in the 0...65535 range

New

  • Add DSStore#setBackgroundPicture(imageURL:relativeTo:) for making the Carbon Alias Finder needs, from an image file (macOS only) 78e06f2
    • Call it while the volume the store describes is mounted. A Carbon Alias records the volume identity, so an alias made against a build folder does not resolve.
  • Add DSStore.IconViewSettings#backgroundImageAlias 78e06f2

Fixes

  • Fix background color and background picture never being applied (#3) 78e06f2
  • Fix Finder discarding the whole icvp dictionary when only some keys were set 710cd00
    • DSStore.IconViewSettings#plistValue now always writes every key, falling back to the value Finder itself uses for the ones that are not set.
  • Preserve ContainerShowSidebar and ShowTabView when reading and writing Finder window settings (#2) a4829c3
