AutoConnect 1.9.2

Fixed

• The Dock icon no longer stays after a sign-in window closes; if it is ever left behind, it now goes away within a few seconds.
• AutoConnect no longer freezes during a session renewal. A route check that never answered could hang the app until it was force-quit; system tools now get a few seconds and then the connect carries on.
• The app no longer burns CPU with the panel closed or stalls the menu bar during a reconnect. The panel's clocks, countdown animation, status shimmer and traffic statistics now pause while it is shut, and the statistics no longer make the app wait on netstat.
• "Retrying in" now counts down. It used to freeze at whatever it read when the tunnel dropped.

• The "VPN connected" notification no longer arrives while the open menu bar panel still says "Authenticating...". With the panel open, the banner waits until the panel shows the connection too.

• Copy Log and Report with log in Settings > About, so the log can be handed over at any time rather than only while a failure is on screen.

Fixed

• The update dialog now shows what changed. It was showing a raw "Full Changelog: https://..." link, because releases published GitHub's generated notes and Sparkle renders that field as HTML rather than markdown. Release notes now come from the changelog and are converted to HTML.
• Detect now picks a tunnel group that can actually sign in. It took whichever group the gateway listed first, so on a gateway whose first entry is a password group every new connection was pointed at a group this app can never connect to, and nothing said so until a connect failed later. Each group is now asked how it signs in, and the one that uses the browser is kept.
• The tunnel group can be changed after setup. The picker only appeared immediately after a Detect and turned back into plain text when the window was reopened, which left anyone on the wrong group with no way off it. The group list is now saved with the connection.
• A gateway that refuses for a reason the app understands now says so. Failures like a tunnel group that does not offer browser sign-in were reaching the screen as "The operation couldn't be completed. (ConfigAuth.ParseError error 2.)", because the written explanation was invisible to the system's error text.

AutoConnect 1.7.0

Added

• Copy Log and Report Issue, next to the error in the VPN row. Report Issue opens a GitHub issue with the log, the app version and the macOS version already filled in.

Changed

• The diagnostic log now records why an attempt failed, which gateway it was dialling and which openconnect binary it used. It previously recorded only the sequence of states, which said no more than the panel already showed.

Fixed

• Authenticator accounts added from a QR code whose enrollment page escaped its own query string are now named correctly, instead of showing the issuer as "Example&algorithm=SHA1&digits=6&period=30". A code whose secret swallowed the query this way can now be added at all.
• A connect that fails before a tunnel has ever come up now shows what went wrong, instead of silently retrying. Asking to connect was being treated as having connected, so a first attempt that failed on something settled, such as a missing sudo rule, went onto the automatic retry ladder rather than onto the screen. When retries do run out, the message now leads with the cause rather than only the number of attempts.
