Bard 0.1.0-alpha3
Bard is a minimalist audiobook player designed for the Light Phone III. This alpha release brings local audiobooks, public library loans, and RSS audiobook feeds together in one unified library and player.
- Connect your public library account using Libby's Copy to Another Device setup process.
- Scan single-file MP3 and M4B audiobooks placed directly in the device's
Audiobooksfolder. - Add RSS audiobook feeds, stream books, or download them for offline listening.
- Resume saved listening position and playback speed, with books automatically ordered by most recently played.
- Continue playback while navigating Bard or while the screen is off.
This is alpha software. Expect rough edges and keep backups of important local audiobooks.
Current limitations
- Only single-file MP3 and M4B audiobooks are supported.
- Chapter navigation is not yet available.
- RSS feeds requiring authentication are not supported.
- Public library setup currently requires another authorized device during initial connection.
- Public library integration depends on the provider's web application and may require updates as it evolves.
Bard is an independent, unofficial open-source project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by The Light Phone, Inc., OverDrive, Inc., or any public library system.
