New icon. Wiring has a new logo: a W cut out of a violet heptagon. It is in the app header and in the macOS and Windows app icons.

Custom resources. A Custom Resources section lists the CRD kinds the cluster serves. Open any kind as a live table with its own printer columns, edit its YAML, see its events, and create one from a template. Custom resources that own your workloads appear on the graph.

Helm releases. A Helm view lists the releases in the selected namespaces with chart, revision and status, and shows each release's values, history, notes and objects. Selecting a release highlights its objects on the graph. Read-only.

A friendlier first run. Without a kubeconfig, Wiring opens on a welcome screen that shows which files it looked at. A failed connection names the cause (unreachable, certificate, credentials, missing login helper, timeout) with Retry. Empty namespaces, missing access, hidden kinds and empty searches each explain themselves. Login helpers such as gke-gcloud-auth-plugin are now found when Wiring is started from the Dock.

The first release of Wiring, a desktop Kubernetes IDE built around a live graph of how the resources in a namespace are wired together: Ingress → Service → Deployment → Pod, plus ConfigMaps, Secrets, PVCs, ServiceAccounts and HPAs.

What's in it

  • Live graph of a namespace, updated from watches. Filter by kind, search, and click a node to highlight its wiring. Pods under one owner collapse into a group; double-click a group to expand it.
  • Navigator of your kubeconfig contexts plus the namespace's resources by category, with live counts and worst-status dots. Kinds your RBAC can't read are struck through.
  • Tables in kubectl get style for every kind: sortable, searchable and keyboard-navigable. Double-click a row to jump to it in the graph.
  • Details panel with Overview, YAML and Events tabs, resizable or maximised.
  • YAML editing: edit, review a line diff, then apply with strict field validation. Conflicts offer Reload or Overwrite, and validation errors appear inline. + Create starts from a template for any watched kind, and objects can be deleted from the details panel.
  • Logs for pods and workloads: the last 500 lines per container, then live follow, merged across a workload's pods with a coloured [pod/container] prefix. It also offers container choice, the previous run of a crashing container, timestamps, wrapping, search with match stepping, ANSI colours and download.
  • New look: a dark "cosmic midnight" theme with lilac accents, serif view titles, and depth drawn with surfaces and hairline borders.

Install

The builds are unsigned.

  • macOS (universal, Apple Silicon and Intel): open the .dmg and drag Wiring to Applications, then run
    xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Wiring.app
(or right-click → Open the first time).
  • Windows: run the .msi or -setup.exe. When SmartScreen appears, choose More info → Run anyway.

Wiring needs a kubeconfig with at least one context (~/.kube/config or KUBECONFIG). You can also add one from the app.
