A mark in place of the checkmark

  • mark is a new optional property of an entry.
  • A checked day with a mark shows the mark instead of the checkmark.
  • A mark is one sign: a digit, a letter or an emoji. Only the first sign of the value is shown.
    • mark: 🔥 → 🔥
    • mark: 4 → 4
    • mark: 10 → 1
  • A draft and a day with several entries keep the checkbox.

Entries as journal records

# Journal ← journal section

## 2026-09-28 ← record: second-level heading that starts with the date
- [x] done ← done: the first checkbox of the record
### 🔥 ← mark: the first third-level heading of one sign
anything worth keeping about that day

---
  • With entries: journal, a click writes a record into the journal of the track. No new note is created.
  • The journal is either the # Journal section at the end of the track note or the note that the track's journal property links to. If that note does not exist, the first record creates it.
  • Records are sorted by date, with the newest on top.
  • The body of a record is the track's template without its properties. Date placeholders are filled in for the day of the record, and Templater commands are removed.
  • A click on a cell opens the journal at the record.
  • Hovering a cell shows the record in a preview, and you can edit it there.

See the README for details.

@github-actions github-actions released this 23 Sep 11:30

A maintenance release. The plugin behaves exactly as 0.1.0 does; what changed is how the code type-checks.

The automated review of the community directory reported 49 warnings about values of an error or any type. None of them was in the plugin: the review runs on TypeScript 6, where the project's tsconfig.json did not load at all, so the rules saw an error type in place of every type.

  • tsconfig.json drops baseUrl, which TypeScript 6 refuses. The imports are relative and never needed it.
  • The moment a day is kept in is typed by the plugin itself. Obsidian exports moment as a namespace import, and a namespace is not callable while esModuleInterop is on — the default of TypeScript 6. One cast in the daily notes adapter keeps everything past it typed.
  • A test holds the case of a shift unit in a daily note template: {{date+1M}} is a month ahead, {{date+1m}} a minute.

Checked under both TypeScript 5.7 and 6: the type check passes and the linter of the community directory reports nothing.

The first release of Process Tracker: a tracker table whose checkmarks are notes.

A process-tracker code block becomes a table. Rows are your tracks — a habit, a practice, a long project — and columns are days. Every checked box is a note in your vault, where you can keep what you did that day.

What it does

  • Tracks are notes. Tag a note process_tracker and it becomes a row. track_name, track_color and template in its properties set the title, the colour of its checkmarks and the template of its entries.
  • A check is a note. A click on an empty cell creates an entry note for that day; Cmd/Ctrl + click creates it already done. A cell is empty, a draft (done: false) or checked (done: true), and a day with several entries is checked only when all of them are.
  • Previews in place. Hover a cell or a track title to read and edit the note without leaving the table. A day with several entries lists them, each with its own checkbox.
  • Choose the rows and the window. track filters tracks with a Dataview query, start, days and dates set the window, sort orders the rows.
  • Streaks. stroke: true threads three or more checked days in a row together.
  • Daily notes. A date caption is a link to the daily note of that day. A day without one offers to create it, from your daily note template. daily_note_dir points a table at another folder, such as an archive.
  • Your theme. The table is drawn as real tables and checkboxes, so it takes the look of the theme you use.
  • Changes made elsewhere show up. Edit an entry in another tab or by hand, and its cell repaints itself.

Requirements

  • Obsidian 1.5.7 or later, on desktop.
  • Dataview for the track filter. Without it the table shows every track.
  • Templater, only if your entry templates use its commands.
  • The core Daily notes plugin or Periodic Notes for the links to daily notes.

See the README to get started.
