What’s new

Quill 0.3.0 RC 2 improves silent-dictation completion, keeps the dock app available when the main window is closed, and adds a searchable voice-typing blog.

  • Silent turns complete cleanly: An empty finalized transcription is treated as a successful no-speech result and returns directly to idle without waiting for turnComplete or timing out.
  • Dock-resident behavior: Command-Q now closes the main Quill window while keeping the menu-bar and dock app running; Quill can still be fully quit from its dedicated dock/menu quit action.
  • Regression coverage: Tests verify empty finalized transcripts complete without an injected turnComplete event.
  • Voice-typing blog: The website now includes practical Mac dictation guides and an open-source Wispr Flow alternative comparison.

Install

This is a prerelease for opted-in RC testers. Download Quill-v0.3.0-rc.2-macOS.dmg from the assets below once the release workflow finishes, or use Quill → Check for Updates… with the RC channel enabled.

Quill requires macOS 14 or later and a Gemini API key with access to the Live transcription model.
