Downhill Revived 0.2.8
What's fixed
Computer riders
- AI riders follow their own racing line again, as on the PS2. A bug in the PC build made every computer rider read its line from the wrong memory, so they raced differently from the original game.
Online rooms only accept the same version, so everyone needs 0.2.8 to race together. The game offers the update at start (or download the zip below).
Commits
- AI: riders follow their own racing line again
- Release tools: gate reference r47-plain, packaging ignores numbers that spell a path
- Downhill Revived 0.2.8
Install
Unzip, run dhd.exe, and choose your own Downhill Domination (USA) disc image when asked. Updating from 0.2.7: the game updates itself when auto_update is on, keeping your settings and saves.
Downhill Revived 0.2.7
What's fixed
Online
- The flyover at the start of a level can be skipped again, by the host and by everyone else. Before, it often ignored the button, and a player could be left at its end while the others were already racing.
- Players no longer get stuck at the start with the pause menu open and the game pressing RE-START over and over. The game now follows only a restart the host really chose, and stops trying after 30 seconds if anything goes wrong.
Widescreen
- The goggles loading screen at the start of a level now keeps its shape (with dark bars at the sides) instead of being stretched. The same goes for the level chooser shown just before loading.
Online rooms only accept the same version, so everyone needs 0.2.7 to race together. The game offers the update at start (or download the zip below).
Commits
- Online: the level flyover can be skipped, and restarts no longer trap guests
- Widescreen: the goggles loading screen keeps its shape
- Docs: project state for 0.2.7

Downhill Revived 0.2.6
What's new
Startup
- A small window now shows what the game is doing while it starts (checking for updates, checking your disc image, loading, preparing the graphics), with a progress bar. No more long wait with nothing on screen.
- The compiled graphics shaders are kept on disk, so starts after the first one are much faster.
Online
- The race room opens over the rider screen, and backing out of any online screen returns cleanly to the menus.
- The host can turn the computer riders off. The room shows which rider each player picked.
- When the host picks TRY AGAIN or NEW LEVEL after the results, or RE-START or NEW LEVEL from the pause menu, everyone's game follows and the next race starts together.
- Online, every rider (pros too), bike and track is unlocked. Your own progress comes back when you leave online play, and your save isn't touched meanwhile.
- The other players' names are shown above their riders.
Online rooms only accept the same version, so everyone needs 0.2.6 to race together. The game offers the update at start (or download the zip below).
Commits

Downhill Revived 0.2.5
What's new
- Faster. About 20% more frames a second in races, with fewer slow frames. The busiest PS2 vector-unit programs now run as native code, and hot math and graphics paths take shortcuts that give exactly the same results.
- 120 and 144 FPS (experimental). New Frame Rate option in OPTIONS > PC SETTINGS (60, 120, 144 or Monitor). Above 60 the game really simulates more steps a second, with no blended in-between pictures. One button press still counts once. If your PC can't keep up, the frame rate dips but the game never goes into slow motion. Offline only: online races always run at 60, and replays and ghosts are off above 60. Known limit: at 120/144 the computer riders start slightly slower after GO.
- Loading screens fixed. The loading card no longer shows black or half drawn, and the Japan loading screen no longer shows scrambled pictures from the Italy course.
60 FPS plays exactly like the original game. Online rooms need everyone on the same version, so 0.2.4 players are asked to update before going online.
Changes
- Renderer: keep loading-screen artwork when text is drawn over it
- Performance: native vector-unit kernels and leaner graphics queues
- Performance: fast paths for hot vector math and graphics bookkeeping
- Options: real 120 and 144 FPS offline (experimental)
- Docs: project state and release record for 0.2.5
Install
Download DownhillRevived-0.2.5-win.zip, unzip it and run dhd.exe. On first start, choose your own Downhill Domination (USA) disc image. Players on 0.2.0 or later are offered this update in the game.
Downhill Revived 0.2.4
You need your own USA disc (SCUS-97177) dumped to an .iso. This download contains no game data.
On an older version? Start the game and choose Update now. Your settings and saves are kept.
New in 0.2.4
- Your settings are kept. Music, sound and speech volume, stereo, difficulty and every player's controls now stay as you set them after you restart, with no need to save game data by hand. Your career save is never touched by this.
- Type with your keyboard. Room codes, your online name and any other text field accept typing. Backspace deletes, Enter confirms, Esc cancels, and Ctrl+V pastes a room code. Works with AZERTY and other layouts. Controller entry still works.
- New online race room. After you create or join a room, you choose your rider, bike, jersey and bike colour in the game's own screens, with the 3D preview. The host picks the track. Then the Race Room shows the code, the players, who is ready and how many you are still waiting for. You can change your selection or leave at any time, and the host starts the race when everyone is ready (two players are enough).
- Fixed: turning vibration on in the game's options no longer crashes the game.
Online
Online play needs 0.2.4. Older versions are asked to update.

Downhill Revived 0.2.3
You need your own USA disc (SCUS-97177) dumped to an .iso. This download contains no game data.
On 0.2.0 or 0.2.2? Start the game and choose Update now. Your settings and saves are kept.
New in 0.2.3
- No more shaking menus. The logo, the menu text and the button bar at the bottom no longer jitter up and down. The race picture is steadier too. The PS2 shifted every other frame by half a line for TV interlacing; the PC version now shows a stable picture.
- Power-up flash fixed. Riding into a power-up gives the short flash of the original game again, instead of a big orange glare that stayed on screen.
- Game data matches the PS2. An audit of how the game's data is loaded found 69 values that were read as memory addresses by mistake (including the power-up one). They now hold the PS2's original values.

Keyboard play. You can play a whole race without a controller. The arrow keys steer and lean smoothly, like a stick.
Key Menus Riding Arrows move steer and lean Space / X confirm pedal S / Backspace back brake Esc / Enter back / START pause Z / C punch / kick A / D / Q / E tricks (E = bunny hop) W / F sprint / powerslide Tab SELECT camera / look back Letter keys go by their position on the keyboard, so AZERTY and QWERTZ get the same layout. Downhill Revived 0.2.0
You need your own USA disc (SCUS-97177) dumped to an .iso. This download contains no game data.
New in 0.2.0
- Movies play. The intro movies and VIDEO CLIPS now play with sound. Press Cross to skip one, or turn them off with Skip Movies in PC SETTINGS.
- Widescreen at any shape (16:9, 16:10, 21:9) with the HUD kept in proportion. Menus stay 4:3 in the middle.
- Texture packs. PCSX2-format upscale packs for this game work unchanged. Put one in
textures\SCUS-97177\replacementsnext todhd.exe, or settexture_pack =indhd.ini. Switch it with Texture Pack in PC SETTINGS. - Auto-update. At start the game offers new versions (
auto_update = ask | on | off). Your settings and saves are kept. - Online: every rider now starts on their own gate, the same on every PC. Online play needs the latest version.
- EXIT GAME is in the main menu.
- Better defaults for new installs: 2x resolution, borderless at your monitor's resolution, and widescreen. Settings you already had are kept.
- A new icon.
Updating from 0.1.0
0.1.0 has no updater, so download this zip once and unzip it over your old folder. Your dhd.ini and saves are kept. Later versions update themselves.
Running your own server
Set server = and update_url = in dhd.ini, and MIN_VERSION on your server. See the README.
Known gaps
- 2–4 player split screen hasn't been checked with the widescreen HUD.
- With a texture pack, a menu screen that loads many new textures at once can hitch briefly.
- Online is still experimental. Please report problems in Issues.
