Choose a tag to compare

@skvortsov-dev skvortsov-dev released this 30 Sep 16:28

TestPerch now runs in a persistent Chrome side panel that stays open while you switch tabs or reload the page.

What’s new

  • Shows the last successful assignment snapshot immediately, then refreshes quietly.
  • Refreshes every five minutes in the background and every 30 seconds while the panel is visible.
  • Adopts another authorized Amplitude tab if the original tab closes.
  • Keeps cached results visible but read-only when authorization expires, with Sign in and Reconnect recovery.
  • Redesigns experiment and feature flag cards, Testing IDs, assigned states, and both themes.
  • Supports up to 20 selected email, user, or device IDs while preserving one-ID-at-a-time writes.
  • Adds a visible clear button to experiment and feature flag search.

Validation

  • 90 automated tests pass.
  • Tested as an installed Chrome side panel in light and dark themes.
  • Verified on PDF.net by joining and leaving the redact experiment from Testing Assignments.
  • Release archives contain no credentials, tokens, real testing data, or private recordings.

Chrome Web Store users will receive 0.0.3 automatically after the Store update is approved. Unpacked installations must be updated manually from this release.

v0.0.2.1 — Store listing name

Choose a tag to compare

@skvortsov-dev skvortsov-dev released this 25 Sep 09:01
  • Rename the extension to TestPerch — Testing for Amplitude Experiment & Feature Flags and tighten the short description so Chrome Web Store search finds it by Amplitude, Experiment, and feature-flag queries.
  • No functional changes.

TestPerch is available on the Chrome Web Store; Store installations update automatically.

For an unpacked installation, download testperch-v0.0.2.1.zip from Assets, unzip it to a permanent folder, and reload TestPerch at chrome://extensions. For a new unpacked installation, enable Developer mode and choose Load unpacked, selecting the folder that contains manifest.json.

v0.0.2 — Multiple testing IDs

@skvortsov-dev skvortsov-dev released this 21 Sep 20:08
  • Support QA engineers, developers, and product managers working with Amplitude Testing.
  • Add multiple email/user/device IDs with the person-plus icon next to the profile.
  • Add IDs one at a time with Enter or Add, or paste a comma-separated/multiline list. Existing IDs stay selected.
  • Show Include me only after another ID is added. Removing the last additional ID returns to the signed-in account.
  • Keep the assignment list visible while editing IDs; long lists scroll inside the compact panel.
  • View assignments for every selected ID, with each row labeled by its exact email or ID.
  • Add, switch, or remove one ID at a time without changing other participants or rollout settings.
  • Support experiments, feature flags, custom variant names, exact ID matching, and up to 20 selected IDs.
  • Restore selected IDs for the same Amplitude account and organization; disconnect clears them.
  • Fix popup clipping and the expanded help block overlapping search/results.
  • Add regression coverage and documented contribution, privacy, and visual-review requirements.

Version 0.0.2 has been submitted to Chrome Web Store. Store installations will update automatically after an approved release is published. It is also available as an unpacked extension through GitHub Releases.

Download testperch-v0.0.2.zip from Assets, unzip it to a permanent folder, and reload TestPerch at chrome://extensions. For a new unpacked installation, enable Developer mode and choose Load unpacked, selecting the folder that contains manifest.json.

Leaving Testing removes only the selected ID's Testing assignment and restores normal targeting, including any 100% rollout. Existing Amplitude permissions are required. Archived configurations and cohort-based assignments remain excluded.

TestPerch 0.0.1 — Experiment & flag testing for Amplitude

Choose a tag to compare

@skvortsov-dev skvortsov-dev released this 18 Sep 17:07

TestPerch is an independent Chrome extension for managing your own Amplitude experiment and feature flag testing assignments.

Available now

  • Automatically connect to an existing, signed-in Amplitude Experiment tab.
  • Select a project and see your own manual Testing assignments.
  • Find existing experiments and feature flags by name or key.
  • Add yourself to an available test variant, including custom variants.
  • Switch your test variant or leave Testing to restore normal targeting.
  • Refresh assignments every 30 seconds while the popup is visible; edits pause refresh.
  • Use light, dark, or system appearance with keyboard-accessible menus.
  • Disconnect with the exit icon; automatic reconnection stays paused until you reconnect.
  • Try the interface with fictional data without changing an Amplitude account.

Install and update

Download testperch-v0.0.1.zip, extract it to a permanent folder, then choose Load unpacked in chrome://extensions with Developer mode enabled. Choose the extracted testperch folder containing manifest.json.

Subscribe through Watch → Custom → Releases. Future releases include versioned ZIPs. Update the files in the same installation folder and click Reload. Unpacked extensions do not update automatically.

Scope and limits

  • Archived configurations are excluded.
  • Matches the current Amplitude account's exact email in individual Testing assignments; does not match device IDs or cohorts.
  • Requires existing permission to edit the selected configuration. Other participants and rollout settings are preserved.
  • Leaving Testing does not exclude you from a 100% rollout.
  • Disconnecting TestPerch does not sign out of Amplitude or remove saved assignments.
  • Keep the popup open while saving. Conflicts are surfaced without automatic retries; writes are checked with a fresh read.
  • Uses internal Amplitude session endpoints. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Amplitude; compatibility can change. Chrome Web Store publication is on hold while integration and legal questions are clarified.
