Desktop Filing View v0.3.0
Desktop Filing View shows your real desktop folders as a flat, scannable list — or a color-coded grid if you'd rather recognize folders by color than by reading names. Loose files stay visibly separate as Unfiled Items until you drag one onto a folder.
Features
- Flat list view or color-coded grid view — toggle from the gear menu, right-click any folder to assign it a color
- Drag a loose file onto a folder to file it away — no confirmation popup by default
- Ctrl+Z undoes the last move instantly
- Desktop Mode pins the window borderless behind other windows, so it sits like part of the desktop instead of another app window
- Watches your desktop live and refreshes automatically when files or folders change
- Runs as a lightweight tray utility — single left-click the tray icon to bring it back
Install
Download DesktopFilingViewSetup.exe below and run it. Nothing on your desktop moves or changes until you drag a file onto a folder yourself.
Windows may show a SmartScreen warning since this isn't code-signed — click "More info" → "Run anyway."
