Video Player (AI integrated) 1.3.1 — Screenshot fix
Fixes screenshots failing with a 403 Forbidden error when watching an embedded YouTube video.
- Capture the visible embedded player directly from Obsidian instead of reopening a signed video URL through ffmpeg. This avoids the rejected media request for visible embedded players.
- Respect window zoom when cropping the player; retain the compatibility fallback when the player cannot be captured.
- Keep failure notices short and omit long signed video URLs so errors no longer cover the workspace.
Validation: 68 unit tests passed, TypeScript/build passed, lint passed with existing warnings, and an Obsidian 1.13.7 integration test verified captured pixels without external media requests.
Desktop only; requires Obsidian 1.13.7 or later. The screenshot reflects the visible player, including any visible player controls or overlays.
Video Player (AI integrated) 1.3.0 — Flexible playlists
Build a playlist from videos anywhere on your computer. Start with a folder or an empty playlist, then add individual videos and additional folders whenever you need them.
Flexible playlists
- Create empty playlist gives handpicked video collections a home without requiring a source folder.
- Add videos supports multiple file selection and one absolute path per line, including files from different locations.
- Add folder combines multiple folder sources in the same playlist, with a separate Locate folder action for each source.
- Duplicate paths are skipped; identically named files in different folders remain separate. Original video files stay where they are.
- Rescanning preserves manually added videos, viewing progress, notes, and saved order. Existing folder playlists upgrade automatically.
Updated walkthrough
The existing Playlist demo now covers folder import, adding videos from other locations, watched progress, resume, and creating an empty playlist. The README keeps its grouped walkthrough layout.
Desktop only; requires Obsidian 1.13.7 or later. No AI account is needed for playlists or basic local playback.
Video Player (AI integrated) 1.2.0 — Local playlists
Local playlists
One folder becomes one playlist. Add any local folder from the Video Player home screen to organize its videos into chapters with natural ordering and durations. Files stay in their original location.
- Mark individual videos or selected lessons as watched, including lessons completed before importing. Completion totals update immediately; mark as unwatched to undo.
- Automatically save playback progress and continue from the saved position. Completed videos offer a next-video action.
- Rescan folders without losing progress, preserve missing-file records, and relocate moved folders.
- Reorder videos within chapters and create associated notes.
- All new interface text and note templates are in English.
Watch the demo · English subtitles
Requires desktop Obsidian 1.13.7 or later. Duration scanning uses local ffprobe; unknown durations can be filled in during playback. Playlist metadata is saved separately from AI settings. No AI account is required for playlists or basic playback.
Validation: 62 unit tests and 4 real-Obsidian Playlist integration tests passed; production build passed; lint completed with no errors. The GIF records real actions in Obsidian using original sample videos.
To update, open Settings → Community plugins → Check for updates in Obsidian. For manual installation, use main.js, manifest.json, and styles.css from this release.
Video Player (AI integrated) 1.1.0 — Web Viewer captions
Read and translate captions from videos already open in Obsidian’s desktop Web Viewer. Keep playback on the original webpage while a clean adjacent panel shows the toolbar and transcript—without a black placeholder or duplicated subtitle overlay.
- Enable captions on the website.
- Run Translate video subtitles from Web Viewer.
- Click Translate transcript with AI, then use timestamps to seek the original video.
Playback controls and active-caption highlighting stay synchronized. The plugin reads accessible HTML5 text tracks; YouTube can use the existing yt-dlp extraction flow. Reconnect after changing videos or to refresh dynamically loaded captions.
Watch the MP4 · English subtitles
All seven README languages and the demo index are updated, now with 13 feature demos. The recording shows the actual app and real AI translation, with provider waiting time shortened.
Cross-origin players, proprietary or burned-in captions, generic web audio transcription and web video frame capture are not supported. AI chat can use extracted captions.
Requires desktop Obsidian 1.13.7 or later. Update through Settings → Community plugins → Check for updates, or use the three plugin files attached below. Existing settings and video history are preserved.
Validation: 56 unit tests per product, 9 Obsidian integration tests across both public plugins, and two real-provider recording scenarios passed.
中文:新增 Web Viewer 视频字幕读取、翻译及播放同步;保留工具栏与字幕列表,移除黑屏占位和重复字幕。README 附真实录屏(GIF、MP4、英文字幕)。
