EdgeHub 1.0 is a readability, fidelity, and reliability release for the
native Linux dashboard and its companion Manager. Every first-party widget has
been revisited at its supported sizes, the Manager now mirrors the Hub more
faithfully, and release verification covers compiled QML resources, runtime
recovery, package lifecycles, and visual baselines.

The film was captured from the signed beta.1 product and shows the running Hub change
screens, turn between landscape and portrait while Manager follows the same
orientation, receive a new screen and widget from Manager, change the page
layout, apply an Aurora theme and purple accent, switch the Manager to dark
mode, and change a Device preference. The front bezel and camera presentation
are editorial; every pixel inside both screens is synchronized output from the
real applications. The 1.0 release keeps that workflow and adds the widget,
preview, readability, and recovery refinements described below.

The separate 45-second theme and accent showcase
shows all 20 themes included in Free and ten representative accent colours.
Both films include an original, sample-free ambient
soundtrack generated by the repository's audio script.

Verification summary

The release product tree passed Rust formatting, Clippy, 341 Rust tests, the
95% Rust coverage gate, compiled-resource Qt 6.7 QML tests, all enumerated QML
requirements, C++ tests and runtime E2E, the 95% C++ coverage gate, build,
CodeQL, supply-chain checks, and network containment.

The hosted compositor duplicate was cancelled after 30 minutes to stop wasting
GitHub Actions time. It is reported as cancelled, not passed. The same complete
suite ran locally on clean product candidate 400f374: 2,641 assertions
passed, 0 failed, and 0 skipped across 22 files. Its 1,347 evidence files are
retained under the full commit SHA with a signed manifest. The stable tag adds
only release documentation and distribution-workflow corrections to that
tested product tree.

The owner confirmed that physical panel input works but did not complete the
scripted nine-action physical-touch audit. That certificate is reported as not
tested, not passed. The owner also waived the planned 30-minute instrumented
performance observation and the earlier 48-hour soak. This release therefore
makes no formal performance, resource-slope, physical-touch certification, or
long-duration stability claim.

Known limitations

• Auto-rotate needs the included udev rule; manual orientation works without it.
• The release does not embed an on-screen keyboard. Text entry requires a
  physical keyboard or an input method provided by the desktop environment.
• Network widgets require explicit configuration and remain subject to the
  central egress gate.
• No stable AUR package or Flatpak is published with 1.0. The committed AUR
  recipe remains pinned to beta.1.
• The scripted physical-touch certificate and formal performance measurements
  were not completed and are not claimed.
• Keep a copy of ~/.config/xeneon-edge-hub/config.toml before upgrading. The
  supported installers also create a timestamped backup automatically.

EdgeHub v1.0.0-rc.1

Public release candidate for the EdgeHub 1.0 update-path validation.

Built from signed tag v1.0.0-rc.1 at commit 400f374.

Validated in this candidate build:

• AppImage build and smoke in a bare Ubuntu container with no system Qt
• DEB install, runtime, upgrade, removal, metadata, licence and autostart lifecycle
• RPM build and payload inspection
• 2,641 local nested-compositor assertions with 0 failures and 0 skips, retained under a signed commit-keyed evidence manifest

The Fedora clean lifecycle reached package audit, but its minimal container had discarded documentation through tsflags=nodocs. The RPM payload contains those files. The stable workflow clears that container-only flag and reruns the lifecycle.

The release owner waived the 30-minute performance observation and the earlier 48-hour soak. This candidate makes no formal performance or long-duration stability claim. The scripted physical-touch certificate was not completed; physical panel input was owner-confirmed but is not reported as a certified manual audit.

EdgeHub v1.0.0-beta.1

EdgeHub beta.1 is the first beta of the native Linux dashboard and companion
Manager for the Corsair Xeneon Edge. It focuses on the complete physical-panel
workflow: display targeting, touch navigation, portrait and landscape layouts,
live Manager-to-Hub editing, reconnect behavior, and durable configuration.

• exact-candidate marketing capture: 8/8 Manager reflection checks and 8/8
  Manager-to-Hub screen mirror checks on KDE Plasma Wayland.

The release owner accepted the risk of publishing beta.1 without the previously
planned 48-hour soak. The final hosted compositor rerun was cancelled to stop
excessive CI usage after the corrected failing function passed locally in 3.472
seconds. No 48-hour stability or formal performance claim is made for this beta.

Artifacts

This beta advertises only:

• the signed source tarball;
• the portable x86-64 tarball;
• SHA256SUMS and its detached signature;
• the detached source-tarball signature.

AppImage/zsync, AUR freshness, DEB/RPM repositories, Flatpak, and automatic
updating are not advertised for beta.1. Package recipes and CI jobs may exist,
but they are not release availability claims.

Known limitations

Since alpha.1 (two days, and most of the v1.0 plan)

Widgets: 24 → 30

• Wellness (E5): Medication reminder (taken/due/later — never a shaming red), Brain-dump quick capture, daily Routine checklist (stores no cross-day state, so there is nothing a bad day can break), Now/Next agenda.
• Distro easter eggs: Package count and Since-install age, read directly from pacman/dpkg databases — no subprocess, no privilege. RPM honestly reports "unsupported" rather than shelling out.

Looks: 22 → 29 themes, 8 → 11 backgrounds

Seven distro-inspired palettes (Arch, CachyOS, Debian, Fedora, Pop!_OS, Aubergine, Crimson) — colour only, no marks, contrast measured 13.8–17.2:1. Three new original backdrops (Peaks, Loops, Ribbons). Two bundled accessibility fonts (Atkinson Hyperlegible, Lexend — OFL, off by default).

The sizing rework, part 1

Widgets now know how much room they have (compact/wide/tall/large/full), every type declares which of the 7 fixed sizes it honestly supports, tiles use absolute cell positioning (a 0.5x0.5 tile is now exactly 1/12 of the screen — the old grid rendered it at half), packing is rotation-stable by construction, and all 15 presets fit one screen per page.

Trust & control

• Verifiable no-egress attestation in CI: the hub runs network-isolated under syscall trace with a default config and the build fails if a single connect() leaves the box — with negative controls proving the check can fail.
• Managed org policy (/etc/xeneon-edge-hub/policy.toml): pin the offline switch, pin the host allowlist, force a preset, disable widget types — fail-closed on a corrupt policy.
• Offline Ed25519 licence verification (core only; no keypair issued yet — every key currently reads as the free tier, by design).
• Opt-in update check (off by default — the no-egress attestation enforces that default), through the same audited gate as all egress.
• User widgets (Tier-0): drop a manifest.json + QML into ~/.local/share/xeneon-edge-hub/widgets/ — off by default, shipped types win collisions, org policy can veto.
• Control socket moved from world-writable /tmp to $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR (0700). SBOM published per release; cargo-deny gates licences and advisories.
• The Manager's display/autostart settings no longer race the hub (single-writer over IPC).

Fixed

• The clock no longer stalls/jumps seconds (self-correcting tick, all 12 time widgets).
• World clocks use real IANA zones (~600) with correct DST via the OS tzdata.
• The Ubuntu .deb declared none of its QML module dependencies and crashed on launch; Fedora 43 + Ubuntu 26.04 packages are now built, installed and launch-tested in CI containers, and the AppImage is smoke-tested on a bare host with no Qt.

Install

Arch/CachyOS: build from source or the portable tarball below (AUR package coming — the PKGBUILD now verifies release signatures). Fedora/Ubuntu: RPM/DEB from CI or build from source. Anything else: portable tarball or source.

Alpha: feature set still settling. Per-widget size optimization (each widget genuinely redesigned per size) is the remaining sizing work.

Each is a real designed layout, not a widget dump. Applying one keeps your theme and accent — it changes the screen, not your taste.

Connect your own data — without giving anything away

Two new widgets point at your endpoint: a CI status, a queue depth, a P&L number, a file on disk.

• HTTP / JSON — poll any endpoint, pull one value out by path, show it as a number, gauge or list.
• KPI — one number that matters, from a URL or a local file (fully offline), with colour-coded thresholds.

The data presets ship these tiles labelled but deliberately unconnected ("CI status → Add a URL in settings"). A preset never guesses a URL — first run must not poll a stranger's host.

Real time zones

The clock now follows actual IANA rules — daylight saving included, ~600 zones, correct through an OS tzdata update.

Security & privacy work in this release

The privacy claim is enforced, not asserted:

• One audited egress gate. Every outbound request in the app goes through a single place — the only code that can construct a network call. It owns a global offline kill switch, a per-host allowlist, and per-host counters. A build-time lint fails if anything tries to bypass it.
• The Rust core has no network stack at all — "no outbound" is true by construction there.
• config.toml is now written owner-only (0600). It previously landed at 0644 — world-readable — while holding widget credentials. If you ran an earlier build, your existing file is corrected on the next save.
• Secrets stay out of your config. Write ${env:MY_TOKEN} or file:/run/secrets/token; the value is read only when a request is made and is never written to disk. A token typed in directly still works, and the app tells you once that it's in plain text.

Verified

• 212 / 212 checks on the real Edge — every widget type added/rendered/resized/removed, every theme and background, synthetic touch, IPC latency (p50 0.02ms), and a 20-minute soak of 2,156 mixed operations with no crash.
• In CI, on every push: Rust, C++, QML GUI, and a 202-behaviour coverage matrix at 100%, behind a merged ≥95% line-coverage gate.
• In the full local suite: the above plus the egress and icon lints and a runtime end-to-end test that drives the real hub binary.

Corrected after publishing: this section first said the lints ran in CI. They did not — they lived only in the local suite. They are CI jobs as of 7b95b9b; the claim is now true, but it wasn't when this release was tagged.

Arch / CachyOS — download the package below and:

Anything else — build from source (see the README). Fedora and Ubuntu packages are planned for v1.1; AppImage / Flatpak / .deb / .rpm recipes exist in the repo but are not yet published, verified artifacts.

There is no AUR package yet — yay -S xeneon-edge-hub will not work. The README said otherwise until now; that was wrong and is fixed.

⚠️ This build is not signed. No release key exists yet — verify the checksum above. Signed artifacts are a requirement for the beta/RC, not for this alpha.

⚠️ It's an alpha. The feature set is still fluid, and widget sizing is being reworked for v1.1. Please report what breaks.

Known limitations

• Widget sizing is not final. Widgets currently have two layouts (tile and full-screen overlay); a tall tile stretches the compact layout rather than using the room. A fixed, per-widget-optimized size system (1×1 = a third of the screen, and 3 of them fill it) is the v1.1 headline. The foundation is already in this build.
• Weather and Calendar reach the network for the feeds you configure — as designed, and now through the same audited gate as everything else.
• The Manager's display/autostart settings write config directly; a narrow two-writer window with a running hub remains (tracked).
