Fixed MIDI Routing:

  • Routing view button now changes colour when Routing is open.
  • Macro Mappings button now changes colour when Routing is open.
  • MIDI-only plug-ins are now recognised by their actual MIDI/audio capabilities, regardless of their reported instrument/effect category.
  • Their generated MIDI is forwarded to later tabs.
  • They are processed only once per audio block.
  • Normal synth MIDI preservation—including the Thorn compatibility fix—remains unchanged.
  • Applies to Simple and Advanced routing.
  • Added regression-test coverage for instrument-classified MIDI processors.
  • Bypassing an arpeggiator now stops its processing. Its unprocessed incoming MIDI passes through, so the connected synth plays the original notes rather than the arpeggio. A MIDI release/reset is sent when bypassing to prevent hanging arp notes.
    Added Modular MIDI Routing:
  • Simple Routing MIDI behaviour remains unchanged.
  • Every plug-in module has orange MIDI input and output ports.
  • The green Audio Input module supplies incoming controller/host MIDI through an orange output.
  • Orange cables represent MIDI; blue cables remain audio.
  • MIDI can be branched, merged, deleted and reconnected independently of audio.
  • Existing cable dragging and module selection behaviour applies to MIDI cables.
  • Module sizes have not increased.
  • Advanced MIDI routing is saved in PHI presets and included in undo restoration.
  • Older presets automatically receive a sensible default MIDI configuration.
  • Default routing preserves PHI’s familiar automatic MIDI flow until users alter the orange cables.
  • Synth and FX buttons moved right and down, and made two pixels taller. Plug-in names moved accordingly. Module sizes remain unchanged.

Regarding final outputs:

  • Audio must ultimately connect to MAIN or an AUX output.
  • Orange MIDI routing currently controls connections between hosted plug-ins only.
  • No orange final-output connection is required.
  • PHI VST3 sends generated MIDI to the DAW through Send generated MIDI to host. The DAW must then route that MIDI to another plug-in.
  • Standalone PHI uses the selected external MIDI output under MIDI Settings.
  • The external MIDI stream is currently global rather than controlled by a final orange MIDI-output node.
