First community playtest (Windows x64)
First community playtest of the experimental Rust / Bevy reimplementation.
Download and run
- Download the windows-x64.zip asset below (the source-code archives are not playable builds).
- Extract the entire ZIP to a writable folder, run Play.cmd, and provide your own Fallout: New Vegas Data folder.
- Choose Doc Mitchell's house, the experimental opening, or Goodsprings. Official plugins are used by default.
- No game assets are included. Saves and F12 reports stay in the package's
userdatafolder; keep that folder when updating.
Current scope and known issues
This is a development snapshot, not a complete game or a normal campaign playthrough. The previously exercised opening segment covers the tester trigger, Doc's instruction and SPECIAL activation. Full opening acceptance remains unfinished, including camera transitions, Doc's gaze/assistance and face creation. With official DLC enabled, introductory pack message boxes can appear during the opening fade; dismiss them to continue testing. General mod compatibility, original-game saves, native NVSE DLLs and VR are not supported as finished features. Performance superiority is not established.
Controls and reports
WASD move; hold right mouse to look; E interact; Tab Pip-Boy; F5/F9 save/load; F12 report; Esc quit. Include BUILD.txt and reproduction steps in a bug report. Review report contents for private information before attaching; do not upload game assets or decompiled game code.
Verification
Core and viewer tests, formatting and strict Clippy passed locally and in GitHub CI. The extracted package was launched from a path containing spaces using an owned game installation: Doc Mitchell's house rendered and exited successfully; the opening launched to its initial fade and DLC message. Invalid Data paths were rejected. This is a startup/package check, not proof that the full opening works. ZIP contents were checked to exclude game assets. BUILD.txt records the source commit and executable hash; the SHA256 sidecar verifies the ZIP. Dependency license notices are included.
