Changelog

All notable user-facing changes to Trndi. The most recent release is at the top.

Version 20 (build 248) — 2026-09-16

Changes since Trndi 19 (build 247, 2026-09-04).

Highlights

  • Live event stream in the Web API. Home Assistant, dashboards and other clients get readings, alerts and forecasts pushed the moment they happen instead of polling.
  • Windows on ARM. Trndi builds and runs natively on ARM64 Windows, extensions included.
  • Redesigned account picker with colour dots, nicknames and keyboard navigation.
  • Faster startup. Trndi connects in the background, and no longer starts the extension engine, probes media players or rewrites the settings file unless it has to.
  • Alert fix. High/low alerts no longer fire for readings the window shows as in range.

New

  • Live updates for other apps. The Web API has a new /events stream that pushes every new reading, alert, snooze and forecast the moment it happens, so Home Assistant, browser dashboards and other clients no longer have to poll. Clients that reconnect get the events they missed, and readings now carry a level field (low / range_low / normal / range_high / high). Because browsers cannot set headers on a stream, /events accepts the token as ?token= in the URL; the other endpoints still require the header. See doc/WebAPI.md.
  • Windows on ARM. Trndi now builds and runs natively on ARM64 Windows, extensions included. The regular x64 download keeps working under emulation; a native build has to be compiled yourself (see doc/Windows.md).
  • New account picker. Each row shows the account's colour dot, its nickname and the account name. Your last account is preselected, so Enter or a double-click gets you in, typing the first letters of a nickname jumps to it, and a Default button starts the default account.
  • Click the floating window to get the main window back. A plain click (no drag) on the floating window raises the main window, handy when it has ended up behind other apps. Works on Wayland too.
  • Snooze pauses everything. Snoozing from the menu now pauses all alerts, also when nothing is currently alerting. Before, snoozing while in range did nothing even though the confirmation said otherwise.

Fixed

  • High/low alerts fired for readings inside the "still in range" band. You could get a "High blood sugar" alert while the window was green. Alerts now fire only when the reading is at or past the threshold, and an old inflated band setting from before build 244 is clamped to the allowed maximum.
  • Trndi started before it could reach your CGM service. Connecting now happens in the background, so the window shows straight away instead of a lone taskbar icon on a slow network. If the connection fails, the same error/Settings/retry dialog appears as before, and the Windows taskbar progress indicator no longer stays lit afterwards.
  • The music pause feature now looks for your player when an alert fires, so a player started after Trndi is found.
  • The missing-data alert, and web clients, now get the newest real reading instead of an empty placeholder when the backend sends an unparseable item.
  • Daily stats hover text was white on grey.
  • The noise indicator showed a missing-glyph box.
  • With the drawn title bar on a light theme, the close button was invisible until hovered.
  • The main window could hide behind other windows while the floating window was open.
  • Crashes on Linux/Qt6 caused by timers being freed from inside their own tick.
  • Haiku: the Web API server could be terminated when a client hung up mid-transfer.

Faster startup

  • The extension engine only starts when you actually have an extension installed.
  • Media players are no longer probed at startup (twelve process launches on every boot before).
  • The splash screen image is a quarter of its previous size and fades in without blocking the app.
  • Linux: the dark-mode and global-menu checks are cached instead of re-run for every reading and dialog.
  • The settings file is no longer rewritten on every start when nothing changed.

Better crash reports

When something goes wrong, Trndi now shows an error dialog with a full stack trace you can paste into a bug report, and logs it to trndi.log. Faults that previously bypassed the app entirely (raised from inside the extension engine) are caught and logged too.
