Download filenames begin with papercraft-0.1.3-. Rust and Node.js are not required. Verify installers and archives against the attached SHA256SUMS.txt.
macOS applications are ad-hoc signed, not notarized; approval in Privacy & Security may be required. Windows downloads are unsigned and may trigger reputation warnings. Linux requires glibc 2.35+, the declared desktop/graphics libraries and a desktop portal for file dialogs. Other Linux distributions can use the portable archive with equivalent runtime libraries.
Compatibility and limits
- Existing
.papercraftand legacy.crumbsdocuments remain supported. Files without color tokens use version 1; files with tokens use version 2. No document-schema migration in this release. - Text input is limited to 100,000 UTF-8 bytes with a status message; automatic dimensions are bounded to 100,000 units. Excess height is clipped by the supported rendering/export boundary.
- One artboard per document, flat rectangle/plain-text layers. Persistent frames/groups, images/vectors, PNG/PDF export, richer typography, layout and CLI/MCP remain future work.
- SVG retains explicit text lines, not native automatic wrapping or identical font metrics.
- Native-frame scripted input is not physical keyboard/IME, screen-reader or file-dialog verification. Windows editor-window interaction remains unverified; installer install/uninstall is a separate check.
See the verification record and remaining issue backlog. Previous releases and their assets remain unchanged.
Build evidence
Source: 6dd5adc.
- Five-platform release run: all native builds, Rust gates, installer and archive checks passed.
- Automatic Linux/macOS/Windows gates: passed.
- Linux/macOS jobs exercised actual native-frame text, marquee, resize, snapping, long-text, inherited-token and two-tab scenarios. macOS also checked dirty Quit.
- DMGs were mounted and signature/payload-checked; Debian packages were metadata/payload-checked; Windows setup completed isolated silent installation, executable/notice/registration/shortcut verification and uninstallation.
PaperCraft 0.1.2 — Linux, macOS and Windows preview
PaperCraft 0.1.2 is an early preview of the original local Rust/egui design editor.

Extract the archive. Move PaperCraft.app to Applications on macOS, run papercraft.exe on Windows, or run ./papercraft on Linux. Rust and Node.js are not needed. GitHub also provides source-code ZIP and tar.gz archives below.
Linux builds require glibc 2.35 or later, libxkbcommon-x11, a graphical desktop and OpenGL/EGL drivers. On Ubuntu/Debian, install missing runtime libraries with sudo apt install libxkbcommon-x11-0 libegl1 libgl1. File dialogs use an XDG desktop portal. macOS apps are ad-hoc signed and not notarized; macOS may require approval in System Settings → Privacy & Security after the first launch attempt. Windows builds are unsigned and use the static MSVC runtime.
SHA256SUMS.txt contains the SHA-256 of every application archive. Compare the matching line with sha256sum <archive> on Linux, shasum -a 256 <archive> on macOS, or Get-FileHash <archive> -Algorithm SHA256 in Windows PowerShell.
Changes since v0.1.1
- Named color tokens with layer, artboard and page bindings, propagation, detach/delete preservation and undo/redo.
- Multi-selection, shared dragging, nudging, alignment and equal-gap distribution, excluding hidden/locked layers from arrangement.
- Validated, atomic SVG export alongside HTML. SVG keeps explicit text lines, alpha and clipping; fonts and automatic wrapping can differ.
- Unsaved-work protection for minimized-window close and macOS Quit; corrected gesture release/history sequencing and Unicode duplication.
- Strict document-version validation and shared movement that preserves offsets at coordinate limits.
- Native release archives for all platforms listed above, including dependency, Rust-library, font and icon notices.
Tokenless documents remain version 1. Documents with color tokens use version 2; the published v0.1.1 and earlier builds cannot open them. In-place upgrades ask first. Compatibility and downgrade instructions.
Verification and limits
Recorded checks and remaining gaps.
All five native release jobs passed formatting, all 44 Rust tests, warnings-denied Clippy, optimized native builds and archive checks. Linux and macOS also run the actual native rendering example; Windows native-window interaction is not covered. Archive checks verify executable architecture, executable bytes, required notices and checksums.
Physical keyboard/mouse input, native file-dialog clicks, screen-reader interaction and large-document performance remain unverified. No installer, updater, image/vector editing, Paper file compatibility, collaboration or local MCP interface is included.
Original PaperCraft code and artwork use MIT. Bundled third-party materials retain their own terms. PaperCraft is independently maintained and is not an official ArtCraft application.
PaperCraft 0.1.1 — early preview
Crumbs is now PaperCraft. This preview introduces the PaperCraft name, an original engraved paper-crane logo, MIT licensing, and the papercraft Rust package and executable.
Download papercraft-0.1.1-macos-arm64.zip, unzip it, and move PaperCraft.app to Applications. The Apple Silicon build was verified on macOS 27.0.1. It is ad-hoc signed and not notarized; macOS may require approval in System Settings → Privacy & Security after the first launch attempt. No Rust or Node.js installation is required to run it.
- Existing
.crumbsdocuments still open and save in place. New files and Save As default to.papercraft. Both extensions use the unchanged version 1 JSON schema. - Recent-file history continues to use the legacy Crumbs folders. No documents or history files are moved or deleted.
- The original Crumbs v0.1.0 archive and its published license grant remain available.
- The paper-crane logo is used in the dashboard, window icon, macOS app icon and README. The original generated artwork and final prompt are in
assets/. - Original PaperCraft code, documentation and generated artwork use MIT. Third-party fonts, icons and libraries retain their own terms and notices.
The editor retains one artboard, rectangle/text layers, layer controls, a property inspector, drag/resize, pan/zoom, undo/redo, a recent-file dashboard, local documents and standalone HTML export.
Verified: formatting, 4 Rust unit tests, 10 integration tests, Clippy with warnings rejected, the research tooling test, optimized build, native editor/dashboard rendering, legacy document preservation, packaged-app launch, archive extraction and signature validation. Verification record.
With the ZIP and SHA256SUMS.txt in the same folder, verify the download using shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt.
PaperCraft remains an independent companion targeting the Craft app ecosystem. The integration roadmap starts with SVG exchange, then PNG/images and command-based automation. Those adapters are planned; PaperCraft is not in the official Craft Launcher catalog.
Native file-dialog clicks, a complete manual editing session, screen-reader interaction and approval prompts on a separate downloaded installation remain unverified. Other-platform downloads, automatic updates and Finder document associations are not provided. Keep backups of valuable documents while testing.
Crumbs 0.1.0 — early preview
The project is now PaperCraft. The renamed app, original paper-crane logo and MIT license are available in v0.1.1. This original Crumbs archive and its published license grant are retained.
First public preview of the original Rust/egui Crumbs editor.
- One artboard with rectangle and text layers, a layer list, property inspector, drag/resize, pan/zoom, ordering, hide/lock, and undo/redo.
- Validated local
.crumbsfiles, unsaved-change prompts, atomic saves, and standalone HTML export. - Dashboard with recent documents, search, thumbnails, and grid/list views.
Download Crumbs-0.1.0-macos-arm64.zip, unzip it, and move Crumbs.app to Applications. This build is for Apple Silicon and was verified on macOS 27.0.1. It is ad-hoc signed and not notarized; macOS may require approval in System Settings → Privacy & Security after the first launch attempt. No Rust or Node.js installation is required to run the app.
SHA256SUMS contains the archive checksum. With both files in the same directory, verify it using shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.
Validation passed: formatting, 3 Rust unit tests, 9 integration tests, Clippy with warnings rejected, the research tooling integration test, an optimized build, native editor/dashboard rendering, save/reopen and HTML export assertions, packaged-app launch, archive extraction, and signature validation. Verification details.
This is an early preview. Native file-dialog clicks, a complete manual editing session, screen-reader interaction, and macOS approval prompts on a separate downloaded installation remain unverified. Finder document associations and automatic updates are not configured. Keep backups of valuable documents while testing. HTML typography can differ from the native editor.
Windows, Linux and Intel macOS downloads are not included. Images, SVG, nested layouts, multiple artboards, Paper document compatibility, collaboration and a local MCP interface are outside this version.
Original Crumbs code and documentation, including the original code in this v0.1.0 release, are now available under either MIT or Apache-2.0, at your option. The license files are attached to this release and linked from the repository. Third-party dependency, Rust library, font and icon notices retain their own terms.
License update, 18 October 2026: the original application ZIP and its checksum are unchanged. Its bundled README predates the license decision. SHA256SUMS.txt is an alias of the existing checksum file.
Crumbs is an independently maintained companion targeting the Craft app ecosystem. The interoperability plan covers SVG/PNG exchange, shared Rust utilities and command-based automation. These adapters are planned, and Crumbs is not included in the official Craft Launcher catalog. Raw research and local agent configuration remain excluded from the repository.
