ScreenOnAuto v1.6.4
What's New
New Features
- Fixed mirror size (Advanced) — a new switch for the "ScreenOnAuto" (NAV) mirror that keeps the mirror at its initial full size when the visible area changes (e.g. Android Auto split view). This prevents the image distortion (squeeze) that could appear after a split-view resize, at the cost of the right side of the mirror being hidden while in split view. Off by default — enable it in Advanced settings.
ScreenOnAuto v1.6.3
What's New
New Features
- Phone navigation buttons on the mirror screen — optional Back / Home / Recent apps buttons on both mirror paths. They act through the Touch Forwarding accessibility service, so they work regardless of the phone's navigation mode. All three are off by default — enable them in Advanced settings → Android Auto screen buttons (up to 4 buttons can be shown at once).
- Button placement settings (legacy mirror) — a new "Button placement" category in Advanced settings for the full-screen "ScreenOnAuto (Legacy)" mirror:
- Left-align buttons — place the on-screen buttons and launch shortcuts at the left edge, handy for right-hand-drive cars.
- Avoid the phone's navigation bar — shifts the buttons off the area where the phone's navigation bar appears in the mirror, so they never cover it (requires Android 11 or newer).
Bug Fixes
- Faded buttons no longer block touches (legacy mirror) — while the on-screen controls are faded out, taps in their area now pass through to the mirrored content, fixing the permanent dead zone over the phone's navigation bar (issue #2).
Improvements
- Translation polish across all 10 languages (consistent terminology and punctuation).
ScreenOnAuto v1.6.2
What's New
Improvements
- On-screen Auto Dim toggle — the mirror screen can now show an Auto Dim button (both the navigation and legacy mirror paths). It flips the same Auto Dim setting as the in-app switch, so everything stays in sync. Off by default — enable it in Advanced settings.
- Configurable mirror-screen buttons — new "Android Auto screen buttons" switches in Advanced settings let you show or hide the Force Landscape and Auto Dim buttons individually; changes apply live while connected.
- Icon-only legacy toggle buttons — the legacy mirror path's toggle buttons are now compact icon-only circles matching the navigation path's map-action style, and each Advanced settings switch shows its button's icon so it's easy to recognize.
ScreenOnAuto v1.6.1
What's New
New Features
- Advanced settings → Display Adjustment: fine-tune the mirror size for head units that crop the image or leave a black bar. Independent width and height adjustments, each a switch plus a signed pixel value:
- Positive pixels pull a cut-off left/right (or top/bottom) edge back into view.
- Negative pixels push the image outward to fill a black bar when the mirror under-fills the screen.
- Changes apply live while Android Auto is connected.
ScreenOnAuto v1.6.0
What's New
New Features
- Force Landscape — force the phone into landscape while mirroring so a portrait screen isn't letterboxed on the wide Android Auto display; auto-starts on connect, with an on-screen toggle (NAV & Legacy paths)
- Launch Shortcuts — add up to 4 app quick-launch buttons to the Android Auto mirror screen (NAV & Legacy paths)
Improvements
- Legacy on-screen controls are now navigable by a rotary controller / D-pad, with focus rings and Android-Auto-style press feedback
- Reordered the settings list — auto-start force landscape, auto launch app, and launch shortcuts are grouped together
ScreenOnAuto v1.5.4
What's New
Bug Fixes
- Fixed touch input being horizontally offset in landscape mirroring on devices with a visible navigation bar (e.g. 3-button navigation) — the rightmost on-screen buttons could not be tapped from the car screen.
- Fixed a stale debounced resize that could fire after the Android Auto window size settled back during split-screen changes.
Improvements
- The NAVIGATION and legacy projection mirror paths now use independent VirtualDisplays on Android 13 and below, allowing both to mirror simultaneously.
ScreenOnAuto v1.5.3
What's New
Bug Fixes
- Auto-dim now actually dims the screen. On many devices it previously had no visible effect; it now lowers the backlight directly so dimming works while the mirrored content on the car stays bright.
- Legacy mirror no longer re-asks for screen-capture permission. When the Android Auto launcher overlay appeared and you returned to the mirror, it used to prompt for permission again. The capture session is now kept alive across backgrounding.
Improvements
- "Keep Screen On" is now "Prevent Sleep". It only stops the screen from sleeping and no longer forces full brightness, so it works together with Auto-dim (turn both on for a screen that stays on but dims when idle).
- Auto-dim no longer needs the "Modify System Settings" permission — only "Display Over Other Apps".
- Clearer wording for the Prevent Sleep and overlay-permission settings (all locales).
ScreenOnAuto v1.5.2
What's New
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a crash on Android 14+ when restarting screen mirroring (MediaProjection token reuse / SecurityException).
- Fixed the mirror image being distorted/offset when an Android Auto pane or the app launcher squeezes the mirror window in split-screen — it now reflows cleanly without needing a phone rotation to recover.
Changes
- The screen-capture permission prompt now appears only when Auto Start Mirror is enabled. With auto-start off, tapping the Android Auto icon just opens the app (no permission prompt) — consistent across both the navigation and legacy mirror paths.
ScreenOnAuto v1.5.1
What's New
Improvements
- Unified and polished the in-app Permissions descriptions for consistent wording across all 10 supported languages.
- Fixed unnatural phrasing in the Japanese and French accessibility-permission text.
No functional changes — this is a localization/UI text polish release.
