\Smarty\Template->getTemplateVars() ?

In Smarty 5, in a custom tag or block tag, is there no equivalent to $smarty->getTemplateVars('the_var') to access Template data the function is executed on, except using the limited (...and rather undocumented, obtained it via var_dump()):

$template->parent->template_resource

(basically limited to any of its public declared properties)

? Or am I missing something?

P.s: the ->template_resource part in above is highlighted by linting as undefined - but it works.

OMG I just found that I have to use getter Methods on $template 🤦‍♂️

So using $template->getSmarty()->... is solving everything.
