What's New

Bug Fix: Battery SOC Sensors Missing Device Class

All battery state of charge and state of health sensors were missing the battery device class. This caused them to be excluded from the Home Assistant 2026.6 Energy Dashboard battery state of charge sensor picker, and may have affected other HA features that filter by device class.

The root cause: ESS sensor definitions existed in two places. The core sensor definitions had the device class set correctly, but when a battery system is present those are overridden by the battery-specific definitions, which were missing device class entirely. The duplicate core definitions have also been removed.

Affected sensors (now correctly set to battery device class):

  • ESS Customer State of Charge
  • ESS State of Charge
  • ESS State of Health
  • Battery Customer State of Charge
  • Battery System State of Charge
  • SunVault Customer State of Charge
  • SunVault System State of Charge

Upgrade Instructions

Update via HACS in the usual way, then restart HA or reload the integration. No configuration changes required.

After reloading, the SOC sensors should appear in the HA Energy Dashboard battery state of charge picker under Settings, Dashboards, Energy.

User Impact

For Battery System Users

  • Battery SOC sensors now appear in the HA 2026.6 Energy Dashboard battery state of charge picker
  • No action required beyond updating and reloading the integration
