Fullscreen + Emulate Fullscreen = Window Border (fresh start)

When fullscreen and emulate fullscreen is checked and you close the emu, when you restart, the emu will be a window with a border instead of a maximized window with no border.

I could not reproduce this bug. When I check both boxes, I have a borderless fullscreen window and the only way to exit is to alt+f4. Upon restarting, it resets to the default windowed mode until I manually alt+enter or go into the video options to check both boxes again.

Are you using the latest version? Currently it is v1.54.1 right now.
Also might want to check that you are using Windows Aero as it is necessary to enable borderless fullscreen functionality in any game or program.

If you are able to make a YT video of the bug and then link it in this issue that would help considerably. Be sure to show the version of SNES9X you are using and type it out in your issue report.

One thing you can try. Rename your snes9x.conf to something else like snes9xOLD.conf or something then start up the emu and see if you can repeat the bug.

Yes, it is that version. Put .bak extension on the .conf file so it can create a new one. Set display configuration to:
opengl
fullscreen
emulate fullscreen
bilinear filtering
vsync
triple buffering

Press ok. (screen goes fullscreen)

Now press file > exit.

Then restart. The emu will restart in a window. instead of a full screen view as it was left.

It was already downloaded from that very site.

I found a workaround for you that involves editing your snes9x.conf file.
First make sure SNES9X is exited/closed.

Make the following changes:

Lock = TRUE # if true, prevents Snes9x from editing this configuration file (or making it read-only while it is running)

Fullscreen:Enabled = TRUE

Then once you do that, save and close that .conf file; now whenever you run SNES9X it will automatically always be full-screen borderless windowed mode.

I'm guessing they should have the emulator 'remember' full screen use from last time but it seems that (still) doesn't seem to work and is overwritten by the emulator next time it starts up unless the file is 'locked'.

With emulated fullscreen the fs state is not saved, that was by design. Although I can't remember why. At the moment your best bet would be to simply start with -fullscreen
