This release enhances DTail's MapReduce functionality by adding timezone awareness to log processing, enabling more accurate temporal analysis across different time zones and server environments.

Timezone Support in MapReduce Operations

  • Added timezone variables: MapReduce queries now have access to $timezone and $timeoffset fields

🔧 Technical Details

The new timezone fields are automatically populated for all log formats:

  • $timezone - The timezone name (e.g., "UTC", "EST")
  • $timeoffset - The timezone offset in seconds from UTC

These fields are available in both DEFAULT and GENERIC log format parsers, providing consistent timezone information regardless of your log format choice.

📦 Installation

Update to the latest version using:

go get github.com/mimecast/dtail@v2.4.0

This release maintains full backward compatibility with existing DTail configurations and queries.
