the bundled PreToolUse hook decided liveness from ~/.claude/daemons/<name>.pid,
which only daemon_start / the lazy nohup wrote — so a daemon-manager autostart
unit (systemd or launchd) left the pidfile stale and the hook nohup-spawned a
duplicate that collided on port 7225. the daemon now stamps its own pidfile on
startup and clears it on shutdown, so the hook defers to whatever launched it,
identically on linux and mac. setup flow simplified to a single OS-agnostic
autostart step (no per-OS unit patching).
