v0.1.2
ProxS3 v0.1.2
Graceful network failure handling, UI improvements, and endpoint configuration docs.
Network Failure Resilience
ProxS3 now degrades gracefully when S3 is unreachable (proxy down, internet outage, provider issue):
- Status polling returns
online: falsefrom cached state. No network call, no blocking. Other storages unaffected. - Cached files served offline. If a file is in the local cache, it is served even when S3 is unreachable. Running VMs continue to work.
- List calls have a 10s timeout. Returns an empty list instead of hanging.
- No impact on other storages. Unlike FUSE mounts (s3fs, rclone), a network outage cannot block PVE's polling loop.
When connectivity returns, the storage goes online again within 30 seconds.
UI Improvements
- Content type selector restricted to supported types (ISO, Container Template, Snippets, Backup, Import)
- Path Style checkbox replaced with a URL Style dropdown: "Virtual-hosted (bucket.endpoint)" vs "Path (endpoint/bucket)"
- Placeholder hints on Endpoint, Bucket, Region, and credential fields
Endpoint Sanitisation
- Daemon strips
https://prefix and trailing slashes from the endpoint if accidentally included - README updated with endpoint documentation, common mistakes, and per-provider examples
Other Changes
- Removed standalone binary from release (deb package only)
- README rewritten with project justification and network failure behaviour documentation
