the app writes preferences in format 5 and deck
schedules in format 2. An older version of Solid Memo reads format-5
preferences without the scheduler and refuses to save over them, so
after this version saves or updates an instance's preferences, a tab
or device still on an older version cannot save its preferences or
theme until it is reloaded. Such a tab also ignores the preferences'
scheduler and keeps scheduling and grading by SM-2 alone, which leaves
the FSRS-6 states it grades to be worked out again. It reads a
format-2 deck schedule as format 1, so while that schedule is fresh it
shows its counts (FSRS-6's due days when FSRS-6 is in use) as its own,
and it cannot write over it: its digest writes that hold one fail and
it reads that deck's documents again on each visit.
