Unofficial preview build of Vemm, an open-source Plex client for Samsung Tizen TVs, with the changes from this fork (playlists, themes, faster seeking and buffering, seek previews, artwork caching and more).

It installs as a separate app called Vemm Preview, so it never conflicts with an official Vemm release.

Requirements

  • A Samsung Tizen TV from 2017 or newer (Tizen 3.0+).
  • A Plex account and server. You sign in on the TV with a plex.tv/link code.
  • Developer Mode on the TV: open Apps, press 1 2 3 4 5, switch Developer Mode on and enter your computer's IP address as the Host PC IP, then restart the TV.

Install (pick one)

  1. TizenBrew Installer: in TizenBrew Installer, choose to install an app from GitHub and enter somefosterkid/vemm. It downloads this release and signs it for your TV.
  2. Apps2Samsung: in Apps2Samsung, choose to install your own .wgt and pick Vemm-Preview-0.9.0.wgt from this release. It handles the Samsung certificate for you.
  3. Tizen Studio / build from source: follow docs/samsung-getting-started.md and docs/building.md. Newer TVs need the package signed with your own Samsung certificate.

Built from this release's tag. The only change at build time is the app identity in config.xml (package VemmPrevw0, name "Vemm Preview", version 0.9.0). Licensed GPL-3.0-or-later.

The changes are proposed to the original project in #5 and #6.
