RefDetect 1.0.0

RefDetect identifies the reference manager that created the live citation fields in a Word or OpenDocument file. It reads the document without changing it.

What it detects

  • Mendeley
  • EndNote
  • Paperpile
  • RefWorks
  • Citavi
  • JabRef

RefDetect supports .docx and .odt files. It cannot identify citations that were flattened into plain text because the reference-manager fields are no longer present.

Install

  1. Download the .xpi file attached below.
  2. In Zotero, open Tools > Plugins.
  3. Choose Install Plugin From File, select the downloaded file, and restart Zotero if prompted.

Compatible with Zotero 7, 8, and 9.
