Customer view

The organizations buying here resell what they buy. This release lets one of them go
through the catalogue with their own customer standing at the counter — on their own
screen, without their buying prices on it.

A retailer switches customer view on from their account. Every price then shows the
recommended retail price the product sync records in _wksync_msrp, including VAT.
Switching it off again is the same control in the same place.

What it hides

Showing a different price is the smaller half. A retailer's conditions are written down
in several other places, and each of them is one stray click away from the customer they
are serving, so each is refused rather than restyled:

  • The basket and the checkout. A basket's line totals and its subtotal are what the
retailer pays, not what is on the shelf. Both pages are refused and all three of the
theme's basket openers are hidden, so nobody arrives at a refusal by pressing something
    that was still on screen.
  • Order history, the organization's orders and the profile. The record of every price
    they have ever been charged.
  • The product datasheet. Its EK / VK1 column is the trade price in full.
  • Price sorting and the price filter, which rank by a price the shelf is not showing.
  • The page's structured data, which is built from the product rather than from the
price on screen and would otherwise publish the trade price to any crawler.

Nothing can be ordered while the mode is on.

What it does not show

There is no banner. The customer at the counter is being shown a catalogue, not a
disclosure. The switch on the retailer's own dashboard reports the state to the one
person who needs to know it — which is also why the dashboard is the one account screen
that stays reachable while the mode is on: with no banner it is the only way out.

The switch is visible only to a signed-in member. A visitor who is not signed in cannot
reach it, and the shop's public face is unchanged.

Notes for the shop

  • Customer view is off until you switch it on in Organization Accounts → Settings.
  • A product the sync recorded no retail price for shows no price at all, rather than
falling back to the shop's own — which would show the trade price for exactly the
products nobody had noticed were missing one. The settings screen counts them, because
only the shop can fix that at source.
  • The retail price is printed exactly as it is stored. It already includes tax, which
is what a consumer price means, and it is never derived from or converted against the
    shop's own price.
  • A request in customer view opts out of page caching, so a cache cannot serve the retail
version of a page to an ordinary visitor or the reverse.

Also in this release

Datasheet\Sheet now reads the recommended retail price through the same
Pricing\Msrp the shelf does, so the datasheet and the shop can no longer disagree about
which products have one.

Download the datasheet as Excel

The product datasheet is now offered in two formats, and every place it appeared
offers both: the cart, the Cart block, the order details screen, My Account →
Orders
, the organization orders list and the order screen in wp-admin.

  • CSV — the supplier feed's own shape, for loading into another system.
  • Excel (.xlsx) — for opening.

The format is named on the button rather than chosen after it, so it stays one click.

Why Excel is worth having

Every cell in the workbook is a text cell. Excel reads the EAN column of a CSV as a
number and shows 8594164760334 as 8.59416E+12, and an article number like
007-001-001 loses its leading zeros the same way. Saying "this is text" is the one
thing a CSV cannot do and a spreadsheet can.

Both formats carry exactly the same values — they are produced once and each writer only
decides how they are spelt — so choosing a format can never change what the file says.

Notes

  • Existing links keep working. The format is deliberately not part of the download's
nonce, so a bookmarked or emailed link from 0.13, which carried no format at all,
still resolves to the CSV it named.
  • The workbook is written by the plugin itself rather than by a spreadsheet library. The
plugin still has no runtime dependencies, and the whole feature adds about five
    kilobytes to the release.
  • Where the ZipArchive PHP extension is missing, the Excel option is not shown at all
    rather than shown and failing.
  • In the orders tables the buttons read CSV and Excel, which is all that fits
beside View; the full description is still there for screen readers.

Requires: WordPress 7.0, PHP 8.2, WooCommerce 11.0, HPOS, Woodmart 8.5.

WooCommerce Organization Accounts Pro 0.13.1

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Aug 12:04

Fixes to how the datasheet button from 0.13.0 renders. No change to the file it
produces, so a site that is happy with 0.13.0 loses nothing by waiting.

Fixed

  • Every order page showed the button twice, ninety pixels apart. WooCommerce's own
order/order-details.php already renders the order actions in an Actions: row, so
the extra hook was always a duplicate. The orders-actions filter alone now covers the
orders list, the view-order screen and order-received.
  • The button asked for a theme variant it never got. Woodmart's rule is
.btn.btn-style-bordered, so on a .button the class matched nothing — the button
silently took whatever its surroundings gave it, rendering grey in the cart and solid
primary in an order's footer from one line of markup.
  • In the cart it sat flush against the coupon box, reading as part of it, and it was
the only button in the cart that did not go full width on a phone.

Also

CLAUDE.md said btn-style-bordered and btn-color-primary were interchangeable on a
.button. Only the second one is. Five existing templates carry the same inert
combination; they render as the theme's default grey, which is what those screens want,
so they are documented rather than silently restyled.

Product datasheets

Customers here resell what they buy, so what they want out of an order is not a receipt
but the product data behind it. This adds a Download datasheet button that
generates a CSV in the layout the supplier feed already arrives in, ready to load into
their own shop or POS.

One file per cart and one per order — never per line — on five surfaces: the classic
cart, the Cart block, the order details screen, My Account → Orders, the
organization orders list, and the order screen in wp-admin.

What is in the file

Column Source
Artnr product SKU
Artean WooCommerce's GTIN / UPC / EAN / ISBN field
Hersteller first brand on the product (WooCommerce Brands)
Bez1 product name
Langtext long description, markup kept, entities decoded, on one line
EK / VK1 current price excluding tax, to four decimals
UVP / VK3 the _wksync_msrp product meta — empty when unset, never 0
MainImageURL, ImageURL_19 featured image and gallery

A variation inherits anything it does not carry itself, including the brand, which only
ever lives on the parent. Every row is exactly as wide as the header: the gallery is
truncated at nine and padded to nine, so the file can never go ragged.

Semicolon-separated, CRLF, UTF-8 with a BOM so Excel does not mangle umlauts. The
header row is deliberately untranslated — it is a machine format the consuming system
matches on, so a German shop sends the same header as an English one.

Who can download what

The cart follows Context::can_purchase(), the same answer the checkout gate gives. An
order follows WooCommerce's own view_order, so an organization admin can download a
colleague's order and a member of another organization cannot.

Requires: WordPress 7.0, PHP 8.2, WooCommerce 11.0, HPOS, Woodmart 8.5.
