Minecraft: Java Edition's only fullscreen option is "exclusive fullscreen". I personally prefer "borderless fullscreen", however, for a small variety of reasons, so I'd like to suggest that as an option for OptiFine, so that I won't have to use (other) third-party tools for that, though I don't know if this is something that's within OptiFine's scope of possible changes.
Some potential benefits of borderless fullscreen versus exclusive fullscreen:
- It'd be possible to have Minecraft in borderless fullscreen on computer monitor A and interact with other windows on monitor B without Minecraft minimizing.
- Other windows could be on top of Minecraft while it's in borderless fullscreen, also allowing those to be interacted with without Minecraft minimizing.
- Switching away from and back to Minecraft (for example with Alt+Tab) would be faster, due to Minecraft not having to minimize and then re-gain exclusive fullscreen power (which may(?) take a few seconds, or longer).
- V-Sync wouldn't be needed to avoid screen tearing, unlike in exclusive fullscreen. (This would make it possible to play at a fluctuating 50-60 FPS without screen tearing, rather than dropping down to 30 FPS if 60 can't be achieved with V-Sync in exclusive fullscreen on a 60hz monitor.)
Before 1.13, this could apparently be achieved using this Java launch argument: "-Dorg.lwjgl.opengl.Window.undecorated=true" ...Though I recall having very "mixed" results with that, but still, it might be relevant.
