News & Discussion

  1. Spack v0.10 release
  • I have created a Spack v0.10 project for this release

  • Target release date: 2 weeks from now (10/20)

  • We'll discuss what issues need to go into a stable release

  • Focus is on making existing functionality robust and squashing particularly painful bugs.

  • After today I'll cut a release branch that will only introduce fixes to things in the 0.10 project.

  • Goal is to have more frequent, focused releases and allow develop to move without disrupting people.

  • Package Testing

    • any package build bugs should be added e.g. #1951
    • make testing framework portable and get users to run integration tests
    • make it easier for users to report build bugs.
      • ask to automatically report (#)?
    • add more RPATH checks and automated testing to packages.
  1. v0.11 (or 1.0?) will likely happen before Supercomputing.
  • Mike suggests making the version higher for SC.
  • Todd would like to get a new concretizer in by SC but it likely won't happen - maybe kick it to 1.0 for SC.
  1. Patrick Gartung has computing in HEP conference in SF next week
  • two posters mentioning Spack
  • Todd: is the conference open to drop-ins?
    • Patrick: not sure -- look at CHEP2016
  1. Ben: working on Xcode mockup to make Qt on Mac OS X work.
  • still a few bugs
  • working on Yosemite
  • See PR #1832
