Removed

  • lapt fix is gone. Its partial-repair logic (re-verify system deps,
    selectively re-fetch/re-bundle) was complex machinery for a rare case;
reinstall (lapt remove + lapt install) instead. (#5, #12)

Added

  • pkgenv/<pkg> files declare per-package post-install env vars
(VAR=relpath) for packages that compile in absolute paths (e.g. git,
file, bison); a broken/unbundled path is skipped rather than exported
    broken. (#11)
  • lapt rewrap <pkg> refreshes an already-installed package's wrapper
after adding/editing its pkgenv entry, without reinstalling. (#11)
  • lapt help/--help/bare invocation prints usage; an unknown subcommand
now prints it too. (#1, #8)
  • Progress output during package fetch in cache_ensure (apt-get's own
progress bar and errors are no longer suppressed). (#9)

Changed

  • Installable packages are no longer restricted to usr/-only layouts;
    root-level bin//lib//sbin/ now merge with their usr/-prefixed
equivalents. sbin stays unexposed. A notice is printed for any
    top-level dir outside bin/lib/share. (#11, see ADR-0014)
  • vendor's printed env script dedups PATH/LD_LIBRARY_PATH/CPATH/
PKG_CONFIG_PATH prepends (shared helper with lapt init), and now
exports CPATH directly for .pc files that never encode their own
    -I. (#6, #7, #10)

Fixed

  • Wrapped binaries with private support libs under lib/<pkg>/ (per
Debian policy) now load correctly — LD_LIBRARY_PATH includes that
    subdir when present. (#11)
  • expose_add/expose_remove no longer misjudge in-package alias
symlinks (e.g. gmake -> make), which could orphan files on remove and
block reinstall with false "already exists" warnings. (#13)

Breaking changes

  • LAPT_OPT_ROOT/LAPT_CACHE_ROOT are gone — everything lapt owns now
lives under a single, fixed $LAPT_HOME ($HOME/.lapt). Run lapt init
and source the printed env.sh to pick up installed packages' binaries
and man pages again (re-sourcing it, e.g. in a nested shell, is now safe
    and won't duplicate PATH/MANPATH entries).
  • Exposure now covers bin/ and man pages only — bash-completion,
.desktop files, icons, and MIME data are no longer exposed at all
    (previously written under $HOME/.local).

Changed

  • lapt vendor is now a thin layer over lapt install: it requires the
named packages already be installed, then just prints an env script
(PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH, PKG_CONFIG_PATH) pointing at their
opt/<pkg> trees — no separate fetch/closure/bundle step, no files
    written anywhere.
  • lapt install no longer aborts on library-only packages (e.g.
libevent-dev, which has no usr/bin of its own).

Added

  • lapt install/lapt remove accept multiple packages; failures are
collected and reported together without stopping the rest from
    installing/removing.
  • lapt list [pkg...] accepts optional names to filter to, instead of
    always listing everything.

First release.

lapt installs Debian/Ubuntu packages under $HOME/.local, no sudo, each
package in its own private opt/<pkg> tree — a thin wrapper around
apt-get download + dpkg -x.

Commands: install, remove, list, vendor, fix, prune, expose.

No shared /usr, so removing one package can't break another. Already
system-satisfied dependencies are reused.
