Release list
QuickBuds 4.13.1
- Adds five models: OPPO Enco X4, OnePlus Buds Pro 4, OnePlus Buds Clip, OPPO Enco Buds3s and realme TechLife Buds T500 Pro.
- realme models ask the buds only for the rows that realme Link shows for that model.
- Game mode: the app waits 1.5 seconds, then reads the state back. On buds that apply the switch late, the switch no longer jumps back.
- The README lists the realme Buds Wireless 3, T310 and T200 as confirmed.
QuickBuds 4.13.0
Android
- The app no longer crashes at start when Android refuses a foreground service. The service stops itself.
- realme Buds T310: game mode reads its state back after a write.
- realme Buds T100: the model entry shows only the rows the buds support.
- The hearing test stops when the buds refuse a start or a tone.
Desktop
- The hearing test stops when the buds refuse a start or a tone.
Reports
- The report page shows each report's status and note.
QuickBuds 4.12.0
Android
- Widgets resize to any grid size. Two-page widgets show page dots.
- Tile labels switch between full and short text to fit the width.
- Material is the default style. It uses M3 shapes, sliders, switches and segmented lists.
- Material widgets use wallpaper colours, Google Sans Flex and an optional transparent background.
- The built-in themes get wallpaper colours. One colour source applies at a time.
- Styles have new names.
- realme earbuds get their built-in EQ presets.
- A model pick by hand reads the features again.
- New: Test my earbuds. The app shows one launch prompt at a time.
- The Adaptive icon is centred.
Desktop
- Linux: an AppImage that updates itself (#13).
QuickBuds 4.11.0
Both apps
- Report a problem: Send stays off until the model is a supported OnePlus, OPPO or realme model. A note links to the supported list. A crash report sends with any model.
- Report a problem: with "include log" on, Send stays off until the buds connect or you turn the log off.
- Reports go straight to the QuickBuds report service. The Google Form is gone.
GitHub
- New issue forms for bugs and model reports. The README links one build guide per platform.
QuickBuds 4.10.0
Both apps
- Noise control with both buds out of ear: the app says "Put an earbud in to change noise control" and shows the real mode. On the phone this is a toast. On the PC it is a 3 s hint in place of the mode buttons.
- Smart noise cancelling shows the level the buds chose, for example "ANC S·M".
- Equalizer: quick preset clicks no longer lag or jump back. The buds end on the last pick.
- Report a problem: Send stays off until there is a description. The report includes the app's warnings.
- Hide old battery levels: the row has a battery icon.
Android
- Dev tools: switching to Detailed no longer stalls. The live log keeps updating after days of logging.
Desktop (Windows and Linux)
- Motion, as on the phone: the selection slides in the mode buttons, the preset bar and the theme list. Buttons sink on press. The connection state fades. A theme change crossfades.
- Switches slide again.
Earbuds
- Confirmed by owners: realme Buds Air7 Pro and OPPO Enco Buds2.
- The README covers Android, Windows and Linux.
Thanks to @MilyuKom0dek for the reports (#8, #9).
QuickBuds 4.9.0
Desktop (Windows and Linux)
- Themes, colors & styles, as on the phone (App settings): OLED Black, Classic Dark and White, Match system, an accent color for each built-in theme, and up to 3 custom color presets with a color picker.
- Cards have an outline, as on the phone.
- Motion: pages fade in, the sidebar highlight slides, battery rings fill, dialogs fade in.
- Overview has a page title and rows for hearing profile, dual connection and earbud settings.
- The device name in the sidebar opens the model list.
- Equalizer: presets in flat lists. A new or deleted preset shows at once.
- The first window is larger. On a small screen it shrinks to fit.
- Window resize is smooth in the Dot matrix style.
- Linux (Wayland): the app stays usable after a window drag or resize. The task switcher shows the app icon.
- App settings scrolls (#9).
Thanks to @MilyuKom0dek for the report (#9).
QuickBuds 4.8.0
Android and desktop
- After a crash, the crash dialog (Android) or the Report page (desktop) can send the crash report with Report a problem. Nothing goes out without Send.
- realme Buds Air7 Pro: QuickBuds now tells the buds to play 3D audio themselves on connect, as realme Link does. The 3D audio switch did nothing without it.
- A battery level of 0% means "not known". The closed case of the Air7 Pro sends it. QuickBuds now keeps the last level, unless Hide old battery levels is on.
Android
- Exported logs no longer fill with "service status forward" errors.
Desktop (Windows and Linux)
- A crash writes
crash-<time>.txtto Downloads/QuickBuds. The next start opens the Report page with it once. - The Overview page scrolls, so nothing is cut off at the first window size.
Thanks to @MilyuKom0dek for the report (#9).
QuickBuds 4.7.0
Desktop (Windows and Linux)
- Overview shows wind noise reduction, high-quality audio and 3D audio, for earbuds that have them.
- OPPO Enco X2, Enco Air3 Pro and Enco Free3: pick the codec (LHDC, LDAC, AAC…). High-quality audio works with LDAC and LHDC V5.
- OnePlus Buds Pro 2, Buds Pro 3 and OPPO Enco X3: set 3D audio to Off, Fixed or Head tracking.
- High-quality audio and 3D audio do not work together. The app turns one off when you turn the other on, and asks first.
- App settings › Language: use the system language or one of 27 languages.
- The sidebar names match the page titles. "Controls" is now "Earbud gestures".
- Windows: the program has its own icon in Explorer and the taskbar.
Thanks to @MilyuKom0dek for the report (#9).
The Android app has no changes in this release.
QuickBuds 4.6.0
Android and desktop
- Report a problem (Settings › Report a problem on Android, App settings › Report a problem on desktop). Pick what is wrong, describe it and send it with the log, straight from the app. No account is needed, and nothing is sent until you tap Send. See the report shows the exact text first. Bluetooth addresses, device names from the buds' device list and this phone's or computer's name are removed from the log.
- Exported logs start with one line that names the app version, the phone or computer, the system, the buds model and their firmware.
Android
- Widgets (issue #8). Picking a noise cancelling level keeps the controls page; it went back to the battery page. Two new 2x2 widgets: battery only and controls only. Each widget with controls has a setup screen: pick up to 4 buttons from Noise cancelling, Transparency, Adaptive, Off, Low latency and Wind noise reduction. It opens when you place the widget, and from the widget's long-press menu on Android 12 and later.
- Wind noise reduction is on the main screen now, under noise control (issue #8).
- The one-time notice at start now points to Report a problem.
QuickBuds 4.7.1 (desktop)
Desktop only. The Android app stays at 4.7.0.
Fixed
- Windows and Linux: 4.7.0 stopped at start, before the window opened. A missing text for the 3D audio types caused it. (#9)
- The build now fails when the program uses a text that it does not include.
Not tested on a desktop
I built this fix from my phone, away from home. GitHub Actions did the build and the automated tests. I could not run the desktop app myself. Please report any problem in #9.
